________1
The recent sexystreetlight thread got me thinking about The ChicagoSchool whose work is covered in Bystander. So, onto Google I go andcame up with someone I'd not heard of before. Gary Stochl has workedthe streets of Chicago for forty years completely outside the support,or knowledge even, of the photographic community there. Here's a <ahref="http://www.americanplaces.org/CAPgallery/gary/garyindex.html">link to some shots. The bottom of the page has a link to information aboutthe photographer. His book looks very interesting, maybe my next purchase.

Brad_
Nice stuff, Jamie...
For more Chicago street in the 60's check out Edward Sturr. I have a small book of his work - it's excellent, some pix are very Metzker-ish. Here's a link to his photos. www.citysnaps.net

michael s.
Jamie, thanks. Somewhere I knew I'd seen Stochl's photos before and when I read the introductory remarks by the photography professor I recalled those as well. But of course I didn't bookmark them, didn't recall the photographer's name once when I tried to, and couldn't remember the name of the professor or the college either. Final indignity: I had completely forgotten that I'd actually posted about Stochl myself, right here on pnet :) So I owe you one.

35mmdelux
Well, he shouldn't feel bad cause Ansel Adams' fotos didn't make much money during his lifetime. Mr. Adams, however, was known as an educator and made some benjies (US dollar, US colloquialism) on the his foto books, particularly his trilogy. Semper Fi from Los Angeles (ya baby!)
