diwan_bhathal
I just exposed several Foma 200 (Arista.EDU) rated at EI 80 in 4x5 format. I intend to use these negatives for Kallitype developing. Any suggestions as to the dilution of Pyrocat HD, temperature and development times? The Massive Dev. Chart does not mention this film. I searched for information and the temperatures range from 68F to 72F. As to the times, the range is from 10 minutes to 12 minutes depending on dilution, some do it at 1:1:100 and others 2:2:100. Does anyone know what will be a good starting point for this film? Thanks.
pics
The general rule with Pyrocat at the standard 1+1+100 dilution is to go with 70-80% of the time for PMK (1+2+100) and the same film. Digital truth only lists times for PMK and Foma 200 at the 1+2+50 dilution so I'm not sure if you can derive anything from that. Apparently alot of people use the 2:2:100 dilution for alternative processes but Pyrocat is supposed to excell at producing dual-purpose negatives so if you develop for silver enlarging papers its unlikely that you would get a negative that is horrible from alternative processes although this really isn't my thing. Good luck Maybe these links will help: <ahref="http://www.apug.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23398&highlight=Fomapan+200+Pyrocat-HD">link</a> <ahref="http://www.apug.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15945&highlight=Fomapan+200+Pyrocat-HD">link</a>
pics
Sorry let me try again <ahref="http://www.apug.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23398&highlight=Fomapan+200+Pyrocat-HD">link</a> <ahref="http://www.apug.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15945&highlight=Fomapan+200+Pyrocat-HD">link</a>
pics
Oh well, Photo.net's method for posting links is beyond me. Go to APUG.org and do a search for Fomapan 200 and Pyrocat-HD. There are a couple of good threads with specific times for alternative processes.
diwan_bhathal
Daniel: Yes, the world of software entries is one of the most complicated things that has ever happened. I sympathize with you. I will check APUG, there are lots of fellows there doing alt. processes. Thanks.
jay_de_fehr
I've used a lot of Foma 200 in 35mm, and develop in Hypercat with excellent results. The formula for Hypercat, and development times for Foma 200 can be found at Digital Truth http://www.digitaltruth.com/ Foma 200 develops quickly and builds contrast readily, so should be a good choice for alt processes. Hypercat offers many important benefits over any of the many Pyrocats. Good luck. Jay<div></div>
