film recommendations?

  1. Hey,
    Recently I bought an Olympus xa (the first one which is all manual) I’m thinking on buying portra 160 to make portraits and also streeet photos. Which ASA do you use with that film? And also which F.No do Usually put? Thanks a lot I’m a beginner with this camera hha
     
  2. Portra 160 is ISO160 film; especially when starting out, just use the box speeds until you understand how your film will respond when deliberately over- or underexposing. As for the aperture (F-number) to use, that completely depends on the scene - if you're not sure how the choice of aperture influence your photo and the exposure, I'd first read up some basic tutorials on exposure.
