RaymondC
Hi I am international so mounting slides is expensive. Is it easy to do? What do I require, possible to hand install them withouttools, I don't shoot heaps. And, how do you cut them .. scissors or mat cutter? Thanks. john_shriver
The plastic Gepe mounts just snap together. Ideally there are small little cutters designed for cutting slide film before mounting. You have to cut fairly precisely.
peter_daalder
I've mounted my own slides for many years. It is relatively easy, provided you take some care. Using a lightbox is very handy, but not an absolute requirement.
I cut my slides with scissors, but there are specialized 35mm cutters available.
Of course, you will have to decide on which mounts you are going to use. I quite like the Gepe system.
ronald_moravec1
It is indeed easy. Cardboard are heat sealed with a special device. Aluminum ones are folded edges with a special fixture. Double glass with slide inside along with window to mask off non image area. Snap together Weiss plastic. All are easy. A Hamma slide cutter makes cutting the film precisely an easy task. rwbowman
I shoot both 35mm and 6X7, and this works great: http://home.att.net/~sales3d/WFilmCutter.htm I use the Pakon snap-together mounts for 35mm.
rwbowman
Sorry, I just realized the link for the Matin cutter sells in the US only, but maybe you can find one where you are.
