digital drawing software

For Macintosh I like OmniGraffle and iDraw. They're both pretty serious tools, but I think a curious 10 year

old who likes to draw can soak in the principles - especially with iDraw (it is also much less in price).

If the Dell is running Windows 8, there is a rather neat app available called Fresh Paint; it's free. It is designed with touchscreens in mind, but it will work with other pointing devices as well (mouse/drawing-tablet like Wacom). Whether it supports pressure sensitivity for a stylus, I'm not sure, though.
Another option is ArtRage - available on any platform, but at a cost, and a bit more serious, so to speak.

Sketchbook Pro from Autodesk. Very good program. versions for iPad and Mac, Android, iPhone and PC. You can use just about any stylus, but if you want pressure sensitivity you need a Adonit Jot, a Wacom Bamboo. There's more out there.
There's also ArtRage.
