robert_ades1
Dell is replacing my 2407 with a 2408 under warranty (the USB hub went bad). I note that the 2408 does have the "HC" in its name.

In terms of calibrating a 2408 for photo editing, am I giving anything up relative to the 2407? I'm particularly concerned about the color gamut. Stated differently, is the 2408 just as good (or better) than the predecessor?

Thank you,
Robert Ades
robert_ades1
Correction to the second sentence: I note that the 2408 does NOT have the "HC" in its name.

Sorry for the typo.

-Robert

sheldonnalos
If I recall correctly, the gamut increased from the 2407 to the 2408. I have the 2408 and it's a great monitor. Not quite as nice as some of the spendy IPS panels, but still calibrates very well and has a large gamut, close to Adobe RGB and more in some colors.
bgelfand
According to these two reviews:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_2407wfp-hc.htm

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_2408wfp.htm

the 2408WFP has a larger gamut and calibrates slightly better.

Input lag is the 2408 weak point. If you are not a gamer, it should not matter.
robert_ades1
Thank you, Sheldon and Brooks. I wanted to make sure that the replacement monitor was at least as the old one. It appears to be the case.

-Robert
