andrew_brown
Hi, I'm a fan both of B&W and of cross-processed photography, and want to know: is there any point to cross-processing AGFA B&W slide film ? do you get more contrasty prints or anything ? or is it a waste of money ? (on a similar note, if anyone can tell me whether there's any percentage in using a polariser with B&W I'd be grateful !) thanks, Andrew
brian yarvin
Andrew: What you'll get is a normal negative with a VERY clear backing material. Indeed, the whole difference between Scala and other Agfa films seems to lie in the backing material, not the emulsion. Instead, try cross processing some of those C41 B&W films...this could lead to interesting effects (I suspect)
richard_ilomaki
Andrew: Why? There is regular film that can do anything you want. Any results will depend on how it is processed according to the ususal changes. For 10 bucks, try it at 200 and 6 min in D 76 or 100 in split D-23 or Split D 76. Polarizers work with B&W film the same way as with colour. Try a combined Red and Polarizing filter if you can find one: very dramatic effects, such as dark skys and foliage effects. jorge_gasteazoro4
If you wish to make BW prints I would suggest printing from cross process slides, I made some very nice prints for a lady who wanted this slides printed in B&W.
