Costco printer profiles

Recommended Posts

Well, you just do a "convert to profile" (don't do an "assign profile" as that is not a good idea!). Anyway, use the "Convert" and then save the image at 300 dpi at the size you want to make and save as a jpg.

Personally, I found that the profiles they give were not as good as using sRGB, which you can also convert to if you are not in that profile already. But be aware that you do not want to make your permanent files nor work on images in the Costco ICC, you only want to use it as the very last step, before saving as a jpeg. It is just a printing profile.

Also, Have you install the color profile? Download doesn't equal to install. If you did, you should see the Costco profile in the list of possible selection when you "convert to profile". To install in Windows, right click the *.icc file and select install profile. Also, to get much anything out of a printing profile. The rest of your system need to calibrated too.

BTW: IMHO, When it come to color management, if you have to ask that many questions to do it, Don't. Use sRGB and you will end up with more.

With Photoshop Elements there is no option to convert to an arbitrary profile. You can convert between sRGB and Adobe RGB only.

Full Photoshop does have the ability to convert to an arbirtary color profile.

Your best bet for Costco, and most other online printers, is convert to sRGB in Elements.
