david_murphy8
I just finished watching Born into Brothels, by Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski. I was not prepared for such a powerful documentary. Some of the images the children produced were disturbingly moving yet so beautiful. No westerner could capture such an intimate view into Calcutta's red light district.
Share your thoughts.

P.S.
Dose anyone have any other suggestions for good photography related documentaries?
john tonai
I met Avijit Halder at a gallery in Denver around a year ago. He was accepted into NYU film school. But he didn't think he could attend since the Born into Brothels fund couldn't cover his entire tuition. However, NYU covered the rest of the tuition.

newbie1
I watched Born in to Brothels on the Discovery Channel. I was very moved by the photos and the method by which they were taken. To take cameras to a very poor neighborhood and give them to children to use is pure genius and very the only real method to get the true story of the brothels. I had to seach it out and watch that program several times, each time seeing something I had missed.
seismiccwave
For some reason I had it on my Netflix and I watched it without knowing what the story was about. I was really impressed by the show also. I think I am going to watch it again.
sionnac
Wonderful book and documentary project, I was very moved by the images and the stories.
There is a documentary about Sally Mann called What Remains that is very good.
Matthew Currie
I loved Born Into Brothels too. If you have the DVD be sure to watch the followup, which picks up some of the stories left hanging at the end of the original documentary.
