Agfa 17, question to Ed Buffaloe

Recommended Posts

You say that your recommended tomes for Plus-X, at EI 100, developed in Agfa 17 1:1 at 72º F is 20 minutes.

I haven't tried Plus-X yet in Agfa 17, but the times for Efke films and Ilford Pan F+ isn't much longer than with D-76. I have used Agfa 17 1+1 at 20ºC for 9 minutes with Efke R 50 and Ilford Pan F+, and found it to be right. The recommeded times for same films in D-76 is 8 and 8 ½ minutes.

Are you really sure that 20 minutes is correct? At 20ºC the times would be 21-22 min.

Patric. The Plus-X in Agfa 17 was done in 1989. I note there is a

roll before the one at 20 minutes that was developed for 45 minutes

in Agfa 17 (1:1), and is extremely overdeveloped. I can't imagine why

I would use such a long developing time unless I were testing reduced

agitation. The next roll, developed for 20 minutes at 72 degrees

looks very nice. I suspect that I reduced agitation to maybe once

every two minutes, but I didn't record it. Let us know your results

Hi!

Just to post times for Agfa APX 100. I've tested it in Agfa 17 a few years ago (and didn't use it for a few years, too) and got the following results:

5 min (beta=0,5; 21 DIN)

8 min (beta=0,6; 22,5 DIN)

13 min (beta=0,75; 24 DIN)

Agitation: Const. for the first minute, then every 30 sec.

I developed my first roll of PX in Agfa 17, and 11-12 minutes at 20ºC

seem correct.

Ed, your times for Efke films in Rodinal are too long as well...

This is my times for Rodinal 1+50 at 20ºC

Efke 25 4-4½ min

Efke 50 4½ min

Efke 100 5 - 5½ min
