jc1305us
Shot from the High Line early in the morning, a few years back. I liked the idea of traffic stopping for this woman walking her dog, (She can stop traffic" you might say of an attractive woman) I don't think I consciously thought of it that way when I took the shot, but that's the idea I have now when I look at it. dcstep
I'm torn. I love the pedestrians and what they're doing, as well as the traffic around them. I wish that I could see the entire image without scrolling. Maybe if you'd post it limited to 1000p, we could see it as intended. That said, I'm torn about the crop, thinking that it'd be stronger picture, with more emphasis on the pedestrians and traffic, if you cropped it just above the trees. As it is, it seems to be two stories to me. One story is, "Look at the long straight street and tall building and , BTW, there are some pedestrians." The other stories is, "Look at this woman casually walking her dog while reading something on her cell, in a nice neighborhood, as a guy is walking against the light and the traffic is well behaved, orderly and not too congested." I think that I come down on a tighter crop, emphasizing the intersection and activity.

royall_berndt
I rather like the busyness of the streets, but you would have to print large for people to enjoy it. They won't have the patience to find the central interest in a regular print Here comes hindsight. Next time, get on street level and shoot the dog lady with a tele to turn distractions into bokeh. To speed things up, take along a friend and her cute dog. Be sure she is cute, too. ;) Edited January 15, 2021 by royall_berndt
