dr5 examples
OK, after having been duped by another ebay description of a "carbon print" I'm ready to give up... Does anyone know of anyone that sells contemporary traditional carbon prints? I'm willing to pay fair prices, but I can't seem to find anyone selling them... I'm mostly interested in landscape and anything that can show off the beauty of this process. TIA for any help! Isaac

pete_caluori
Sandy King is an exceptional carbon printer. He frequents the Large Format discussion on this site. I don't know, but he may offer prints for sale. Regards, Pete
dr5 examples
Actually, it was one of his prints that made me want more carbon prints... Not only is he a skilled printer, he's a heck of a photographer. He had briefly mentioned seting up a web page for selling his stuff but I haven't heard anything about it since. I'd like to try my hand at this process, but I don't have acess to a darkroom, let alone one suitable for carbon printing... I have started to talk to a place that offers carbon printing for images, I have several that think would translate well to that medium. I may just save my money and have my own images done... __jon__
Hi Nze, Thank you for the link--Pierre's web site looks very nice. I hope he gets the English version up soon so I can do more than look at the pictures!
sandy_king
Hi to Pete and Isaac, and thanks for the nice comments about my work. Isacc, I am sorry to report that personal issues have not left me the time to create a web site for offering my carbon images. I still intend to do this, and hopefully it will be up by the end of the year. Unfortunatley there are too few people out there who know and can appreciate a real carbon print. You will understand what I mean by noting the fact that the ink-jet crowd have started to call their prints "carbon prints." If you will contact me by email I will put you in touch with a few carbon printers whose work I think you will appreciate. And of course if you are interested in other prints by me let me know. Regards, Sandy
ian_greant
Use Altavista bablefish (translate) feature for the website in French. I'm sure it's not as good as being able to read French but it was a lot better than just looking at the photos :) <p>Cheers,<p>PS Sandy, I'd love to see some of your work.. even a sad little web scan. ...and yes it is a near crime inkjet printers are calling their prints "carbon". dan_smith
Drop a line to Craig Law, photo dept head at Utah State University. He can put you in touch with any of a number of his students and graduates who work in Carbon. He has one of the good college programs that teaches carbon printing. rcoda
Hi Isaac: Try Ataraxia Studio (www.atxstudio.com) - they make carbon pigment prints for artists. I had a 16x20 color carbon pigment print made from a 4x5 transparency and I have to tell you it is absolutely gorgeous. They also do B/W.
