daniel_taylor1
a follow up on XTOL postings regarding caked part A and general disappointment with TMax films. I purchased the 5 litre package with granular part A (finally) and am very pleased with this developer and TMY (TMax 400) and TMX (TMax 100) in 120 format. the grain appears to be half of what I found with TMax developers which surprises me, because it is rather dramatic. good news, and I am anxious to roll a few 4x5 sheets through the Jobo. <p> historically, I have had consistently poor results from a such a promising developer, that this is a breakthru. I recently posted a query in how to improve the TMax combinations of film/developer, and I believe I have discovered it.
tim_brown
I'm glad you got there. I've been getting nothing but excellent results for several years using Tmax films and Xtol. In fact, I really hated Tmax film until I developed it in Xtol. I've done well with many other films and Xtol but the Tmax films have the edge in sharpness, grain and speed. robert_orofino3
I have gotten superb results with TMX developed in XTOL 1:1 at ei 80.My results are consistant but make sure the developer is fresh. It seem that Kodak has solved the 1L packaging problem.
