Ricochetrider
@andyfalsetta Is this where we talk about our antique furniture and old motorcycles? ;-D
Ricochetrider
@Ed_Ingold Hasselblad NJ feels like contacting the federal govt (or something similarly dense). There's Hasselblad trained tech up in Massachusetts, David Odess, does anyone know this person? The thing is that I'll gladly drive over to Union NJ for drop off and pick up. Probably take 2.5- 3 hours one way from my home. MA is a bit far for that! About Hasselblad factory trained technician David Odess.
Ed_Ingold
David Odess is the name I couldn't recall at the moment.
arthur_gottschalk
Did you fix it yourself or have it repaired? I tried to release the lens via the small screw but to no avail. Send to repair specialist and received a CLA and a few new parts in the process. Must say the camera is now like new.
Ed_Ingold
Thank you for that. It is as I suspected and IMO the best choice if you don't have an easy fix. Disassembly is NOT an option unless you can remove the lens. Don't ask ;)

Ricochetrider
Andy, I am in Pennsylvania, near the state capitol of Harrisburg. I spoke with Mr Odess this morning. He seemed quite nice, actually. He asked a few questions after I explained the lens was jammed and then told me if he deems it needs no repairs, he can remove the lens and get it back to me pretty quickly. However if it does turn out to need some attention beyond that, he's about 12-14 weeks out! Yikes. I bought the camera from KEH in excellent condition, about 2.5 years ago. I have traveled with it, it's even been to Europe with me but is still in great condition and has always worked perfectly. Couldn't quite get the camera packed today but I packed it up this evening. It is bubble wrapped, double boxed, and ready to go. I'll take it to the post office in the morning. The good news is I have an old 500c body, so I can shoot with that. I'll not have the 80mm but have 50, 180, and 250mm lenses, so it's not the end of the world. I actually filled out a repair request with Bron/Hasselblad in Union NJ. But as it turns out, Mr Odess is getting the work. Thanks so much to all of you for your comments and help.
Ed_Ingold
How was it working before the jam? With the back removed, did the auxiliary shutter snap open and closed briskly? Did the camera wind smoothly, with very little resistance when the camera was empty? Did the shutter release return to the ready position without binding? If so, then it may not need repairing. Good luck.

Good luck. Always worked really well, not that I know what new from the factory felt like but I would've said it works "like new", had anyone asked. It was certainly in "like new" condition when I bought it from KEH. They had it rated as excellent. Yes to all.
Ricochetrider
Well, indeed. You know that different tools produce different results. If only more people would have known too. Then, we wouldn't have had any of those X vs Y debates. Yes but think of the fun we'd have missed out on! :)
