MISTERMIKE
Just went through my first roll of XP2. Using unicolor developer kit. Noticing these streaks running down the sprocket holes. I’m pretty new to self development so I’m having a hard time figuring a few things out. I follow the instructions to a T. Too much agitation? Possible light leak? kmac
The image itself looks ok, isn't that all you need?
Jochen_S
How to have such a light leak? - Yes, I agree with @kmac above. I assume that some mess happened when a fluid ran down, from inside the sprocket holes, while your film hung on it's right side. For a more precise guess we'd need to know machinery in use. To blame the streaks on agitation you'd have to rotate the film always in the same direction, inside it's soups. - The Jobos I used spin both ways. rodeo_joe1
Film is pressure and stress-sensitive as well as sensitive to light. Those 'streaks' are just where the camera sprocket rollers have pressed onto the film. It's not usual to see such marks, but nothing to worry about either. kmac
You may be right Joe, in which case those marks would constitute scratches, and develop as such during processing of the film. Perhaps Mike, you could check the width of the marks and check if they correspond with any sharp edges in between the sprocket teeth. That would tell you if it's a mechanical problem rather than a processing fault To get marks like that, the film would have to be really tight to wind from frame to frame. How hard or easy is it to wind, which camera is it and is it lever wind ? If it is lever wind, do you wind real quick ?
rodeo_joe1
The marks are too sharply-defined and regular to be developer 'drag'. I suspect the camera sprocket roller has machining webs that match the marks perfectly. A Russian or Ukranian made camera perhaps?
