rodeo_joe1
I'm not sure how a mechanical rewind can jam up. But what can sometimes happen is that the rewind button can't be depressed because the film is between frames. This only usually happens when the film has been wound beyond frame 36 or 24 and has "end-stopped". If that's the case, then the answer is to stop shooting after the last frame (36 or 24) is indicated, and not keep winding until the lever won't turn anymore. Jochen_S
I'm not familiar with your Minolta. On other bodies I had the issue: When I was unable to cock the shutter entirely for a very last frame, the rewind button or lever wouldn't remain pressed during the rewinding process. - Solution: Press button, rewind a bit, cock shutter entirely, press button again, finish rewinding. If that doesn't help, it might be time to consult an independent camera repair shop.
Vincent Peri
I've had Pentax, Leica R, Canon and Nikon cameras (in mass quantities) since 1974, and I've NEVER had any problems rewinding film even though I couldn't cock the shutters all the way for the last frame. Just sayin'
Wouter Willemse
the rewind jams up then i will not be able to use it for a period of time As said above, it's manual rewind, so how does it jam up? And why aren't you able to use it for a period of time, and how long is that period? Any idea what may happen during that period of time that makes it again possible to use the body? Jochen_S
@vincent: I am not sure where I had my issues. I recall some with a FED and forgot the other camera's brand, since I didn't need to dig my changing bag out. But a rewind button not staying in place would be the best explanation. Luckily one can crank while pressing it too.
John Seaman
I wonder if by "rewind" the OP means the film advance lever? In which case, this can happen if you fire the camera in auto mode in low light, or with the lens cap on, when it can take seemingly ages for the shutter to operate and allow the film advance to be moved. If not, new batteries might help. Or it could be an intermittent fault on the camera.
