Laura Weishaupt
Tony,
No, not necessarily. It isn't better to ask forgiveness than permission when one knows what the guidelines are, regardless of the situation. In that case, it's just flagrant disregard, and as such doesn't deserve forgiveness. There are better things to do with that strategy. If the thread becomes a weekly battleground, then someone else can open the door.

Tony Parsons
Laura,
Agreed, my comment was supposed to be light-hearted and tongue in cheek - although it was a quote from Admiral Grace Hopper.
Apologies if toes have been trodden on or noses put out of joint.
Tony (chastised, but not chastened)
Matthew Currie
These giant Amazonian water lilies are corralled at the moment for protection, but otherwise natural, so I hope they satisfy the hand of man ban.

Laura Weishaupt
Gup,
I'm not going anywhere.....well, maybe to get more mushrooms. Only the best pizza has them. I wanted to expand on what Shun had said. I thought your question was perfect, and I'm glad you began the thread. I think everyone who comes to join the party make up the best part of the thread.

Tony, no ruffled feathers, no bruised toes, nose works fine. ;-) Now I have to look up Grace Harper.

Dilip Kumar,
Welcome to MiN. I'm not familiar with the bird or the location, so it's off to the atlas and bird books. This is what we are here for.

Leszek, La Push is one of my favorite places on the WA coast.

Matthew, nice pads.....corralled where? Just curious. Captive plants and animals have always been part of MiN, and you got it exactly right. The subject needs to be declared as captive, and image needs to be about the nature and not the captivity. Yeah!
