richard_wrede
On the Luna-Pro S dial, there is a ring you can set for correcting exposure. For example, you are using a filter that has a "x4" correction on it so you can set this ring to "4" on the LV correction scale and ..."it will automatically correct for the filter"... well, It only works if you first take a reading, set the dial as normal, then adjust that ring to 4 but subsequent readings aren't automatically corrected as the instructions indicate...
lets say you get a reading of 18 on the scale, you set it to 18, it says (ASA 100) 1/125 @ f/8 so yes if you turn the correcting ring to 4 (2EV) it's going to say 1/125 @ f/4. BUT if you leave the correction ring at 4 (like the manual instructs), take another reading and get say 18 again, and set the dial to 18, it says 1/125 @ f/8, not f/4 like it should as per the instruction manual (says "It Will Automatically take into consideration..."...)
Am I doing something wrong? or are you supposed to set it every time and I'm mis-reading the manual?
http://www.cameramanuals.org/flashes_meters/gossen_luna-pro-s.pdf
trevor_martin
I have this meter and I don't see how you are getting this behavior. There is no need to take the reading first before adjusting the correction ring. If I'm using the same filter all day I'll preset the correction dial and it will give me the correct readings. Is it possible that some of the internal rings rings are sticking together so that when you move one another moves as well leading to erroneous results ? I've seen that happen before in some of my older meters.
richard_wrede
I'll post pictures... also, it looks to be nearly brand new and doesn't appear to have been tampered with.
richard_wrede
As you can see. I took a standard reading of my work area, a reading of 14, at ASA-100 gives a reading of 1/125 at f/2. If I move the ring to '4' (or -2ev) and take a reading again at 14, it is still at 1/125 at f/2. Is the yellow 'Transfer Scale' band supposed to move while turning the adjustment ring? or is it supposed to be stationary and only the white ring with shutter speed and EV rotate? Mine moves along with the shutter speed scale, I'm thinking that's my problem?

regular reading:
adjusted reading:

Robin Smith
The yellow transfer scale is supposed to stay where it is, but when you set the VF x/EF the shutter speed should change by two stops compared to when it is usually set at 1 for no EF.
Robin Smith
richard_wrede
Thank you, I suspected as much. Problem is my yellow scale ring is just painted onto the EV/TIME disc so it has no choice but to move. I wonder what's up with that? Manufactured wrong? Poor design? Oh well, it works if I set it after taking a reading and it's in mint condition so it's a keeper
