railphotog
I know DSLRs require circular polarizer filters because of their metering systems, but do mirrorless cameras need them as well? I have a Canon SX30, an EOS M and a newly arrived SX500. I have several linear polarizers and it would be nice to be able to use them on these cameras.
Thanks!

bruce_rubenstein
No. DSLRs need a circular polarizer because the mirror reflects polarized light that may effect metering.

benjamin_timmins1
That is only partly true. Still can use circular polarizers to reduce/remove reflections.
