suz_vreeland
Hi,
I thought I posted yesterday but don't see the posting for some reason.
Looking to get up to speed in drawing attention and clientele.
Adding another category and with frustration of having no drop-down options, thinking I should instead create a category page and go from there.
Also, per stats, I know most visitors don't go past the home-page, which is static and boring.
So I'd like to place a graceful yet punchy slideshow there.
Not sure if a plugin might do the trick better than the scroller offered and any suggestions of a suitable one would be much appreciated.
Also, I have several slideshows I'd created using previous software though think most don't see them as they're buried within my site.
Finally, deciding whether wix or weebly might be more effective though really don't feel like putting time into redoing, But, have to make my site more effective for traffic and business.
Comments would be very much appreciated.
- Suzanne.

Charles_Webster
Since you didn't list the URL of your web site, and few of us are mind readers, we can't do much to answer your questions.
As for using Wix or weebly, neither of those are hosts for professional web sites. You should find a hosting service, purchase and register a suitable domain name, and have a professional designer create a site that shows nothing but your best work in the best possible light. Your site should be designed to sell your to your intended market, whether it be weddings, portraits, catalog, fashion, or.... You should then optimize your site with content that will cause the giant search engines to notice you and list you in appropriate places.
"Build it and they will come" does not hold true for photography web sites. You might get lots of hits, but as you mentioned they aren't going past the first page. You need to engage your viewer on the first page so they'll want to look further.

My $0.02 worth
<Chas>

aleks_biteman
Eak... first thoughts... Cluttered and confusing. Too many unrelated images on the first page, and the scrolling thing is distracting... And the Gallery makes me think of 1998 web design... Keep it simple, and straight forward... take a look at my site: Aleksbiteman.com
