ShunCheung
Maybe the Daylight Saving Time option is not set correctly?
howard_m
as an aside, if you use Lightroom, there is a function to correct that.

ShunCheung
Sometimes I let an attached GPS unit (Nikon GP-1) to automatically adjust the clock inside the camera, D300 and others. The GPS gets the time in GMT from the satellite, and I set the time zone. However, the GPS doesn't automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time.

Therefore, if your auto time setting is behind by exactly an hour during the summer Daylight Saving Time period, that is the first thing I would check.

ShunCheung
Jill, it sounds like you just need to manually set the time on your D300. When it is off by 55 minutes instead of a whole hour, it looks like your camera's time is not set automatically, e.g. by GPS/satellite. Just keep your time zone in Pacific time (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Vancouver) with Daylight Saving time switched on, and set the hour and minute manually.

By the time you switch to Standard Time in the autumn, just switch off Daylight Saving time and if you travel to another time zone, merely change the time zone.
CvhKaar
I agree with Shun, just set the time manually once.
Question : is the Date in the camera OK ?
If in the past you have had your battery removed from the camera for an extended time, then the internal clock may have stopped because it keeps powered for a limited tim by an internal rechargeable battery. If then powering up the camera again, youy will have to set the clock to date and time again too
