john_dowle1
Any suggestions as to which strap to use with my new 2.8C Xenotar ?
Thanks in advance as usual for any help or feedback.
harry_hollander
Not the usual scissor-type strap connectors that go with the 2.8E and 2.8F (not sure about the 2.8D), it's slightly different. I ended up just getting an ordinary strap without case, works well for mew (carrying it in a Retrospective bag).

If you find the right strap connectors, tell me what they look like...
dan_daniel2
Most typical straps will fit through the opening in the strap lug. No need to hunt down the special strap connectors for the C. Even if you find one, you'll need to replace the leather before using- 60 year old leather is dry and it will snap and drop the camera to the sidewalk (a lesson I learned with a Rolleicord).

Personally, I like the Op/tech 'pro loop' connectors- thin fabric-type connectors that drop away from the hood as I lift up the camera.
marc_batters
I am a big fan of 'OP/Tech' Camera Straps, if you are willing to go with a third-party strap.
It's been said many times before that camera manufacturers OEM straps, do more to
advertise their brand around your neck, than these same OEM straps do for comfort.
OP/Tech makes a great product, and at a fair price. It might be worth a try for you.
Contact OP/Tech to confirm attachment options for your specific camera model.

http://optechusa.com/super-pro-strap.html

Marc

Ah...Dan got the OP/Tech suggestion in while I was searching and typing.
evan_dong1
Hi John,

I have an "Original" Rolleiflex strap for the C & D model. Just not sure if it ever came in gray plastic strap. The metal grommets that attaches the strap to the metal hardware appears to looks original and no sights of any tampering.
I bought it many years ago from a former Rolleiflex engineer from the Singapore operation. he had a camera shop in Hawaii (when I lived out there) where he was selling his acquired goods over the years.

I will try to take a photo of the metal hardware and post it here. Are we allow to post jpegs here? If so, how do we do it?
I prefer the Hasselblad wide nylon strap which I use on my Rolleiflex TLR. its not exactly correct, but it works.
tom_harvey3
I'll second the recommendations for the OpTech Pro loop strap, if your camera has the "ears" for attachment.
dan_daniel2
Willem Smelik, there are photos of the proper C & D strap connectors in this thread-

http://www.photo.net/medium-format-photography-forum/00TQxP

The side with the black stripes faces to the outside. That plate passes to the *outside* of the slot in the lug. The opening goes over the pin on the camera. You then slide the back piece down and its tab slides into the slot, securing the strap (yes, it seems flimsy at first look, but it works fine).
jamie_robertson2
Op/Tech also make dedicated strap connectors for Rollei that can be attached to any existing Op/Tech strap. See here.
arda
I went to a shoe repair shop and had a high quality leather strap made for mine. One piece of thick but supple leather, through the lugs and fastened with metal "snaps" like rivets. No risk of it ever coming apart and falling. Cost $40.
