John Seaman
Thanks for posting. I love the shot of the little girl with the dogs rear disappearing off the frame. And the uninhibited use of the vertical format.

winfried_buechsenschuetz1
Very nice ... and reminds me of the photos my dad used to shoot with his Agfa Silette in my childhood.
Seems as if there were not so many differences in childrens' hairstyles and dresses between Europe and US. Anyhow, hardly anyone wears a cowboy hat and there are hardly any wooden houses over here.
Sandeha Lynch
Greetings, Gene. Is there any chance you will fix the link on this set - Argus - A - A
soldiers camera ?
art_thomas1
Argus A

Although not the Argus A, there are some old photos taken with the A’s almost twin, the Argus AF here:

http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=983141

With the exception of the third picture, the first 18 were taken with an Argus AF and were processed around the time of the exposure.

The AF was different from the A by having a continuous helical focus mechanism lens mount, rather than a two position one (6ft - 12ft and 12ft - Infinity, later 6ft - 18ft and 18ft - Infinity) on the A. It also cost two or three dollars more.

I too look forward to fixing of the link to the rescued Argus A pictures.

george_shihanian
I recall Zip the Chimp from my early childhood. He was a real chimp on the late 50s Howdy Doody TV show. The doll was a popular gift for Christmas '59-'61. IIRC. They were sold as both "Zip" and "Zippy". I had the one marked "Zippy." My adult niece still has my Howdy Doody doll on a shelf at her house. (do they still call it a doll if it's for a boy? Or is it an "action figure"?)

It was a much simpler time, more relaxed .... before the day where we now have cell phones that allow us to talk and surf at the same time and allow our bosses at work to contact us instantly on our day off.... notwithstanding all the "duck and cover" drills we did under our school desks while waiting for the nuclear war to start. Those must have been some really special desks back then that would keep us safe if the big one was dropped on us.
