I wouldn't say DX lenses damage film cams. But given the situation I wouldn't fuss DX lenses on a full frame digital or film camera.

Hmm. I was informed it works one way (old 'analogue' lens --> digital camera) but not the other way round, and difficultly with DX on analogue, which was explained as the distance from {putnameoftechnicaltermhere} to mirror, or the distance it needs to flip. Sorry if I was mistaken there. Anyway, I'd never dream of putting one of my new lenses (missing the aperture ring already) on one of my dinosaurs.

Don't worry about that, there's no interference with the mirror, and I've got plenty of shots with odd combinations like F75 with 18-55 DX and F100 with 35/1.8 DX - you just have to know and understand what you're getting into. You're not going to have a corner-to-corner-perfect shot, even when the frame is covered, because making those areas that are outside the DX frame size look good is not part of the design criteria. When you shoot DX on film you end up with fantastic center sharpness and (desirable or undesirable, depending how you look at it) edge and corner weirdness.
