kevin_mahoney1
I see many videos, where photographers meter the subject, by triggering the flash with the Sekonic. They do this wireless, but I cant afford a Pocket Wizard, and would wish to use a sync cord to trigger the flash. Would it be a matter of connecting a sync cord directly from the light meter, to my Interfit Strobies receiver (connected to a flash mounted on a stand with an umbrella)? Or is there any other configuration I may need to use.

Thank you all in advance for all responses.
Matt Laur
The simple synch cable will work just fine. It's a little less graceful than doing it wirelessly, but it certainly works.
b_christopher
The only other option is called the "Auto-reset cordless flash" mode(page 16 in Operating Manual.) The meter will only take a measurement when it sees a flash.
sfcole
Before I installed the PW receiver in my Sekonic, I did as B suggests, usually by propping the meter next to the subject, having a subject hold the meter, or mounting it on a tripod. I think you have 90 seconds to flash, and the meter will meter each flash without resetting it.
kevin_mahoney1
Yes, I tried B`s method, and it`s pretty cool. Thank you B, Matt, and Scott. I am going to invest in the sync cord anyway, just to have around.
hjoseph7
You just need one sync cord attached to the Main flash($10), or any other flash and if your flash units have built in optical slaves, it will trip up all the other flashes in your set up. You can also install a PW Radio Transmitter module inside The Sekonic, but that would mean you would need some extra Pocket Wizard receivers.
jim mucklin
the easiest solution is a 3 way cord, go to Sekonics site, find your meter and click assesories.
You can also check out Lon over at FlashZebra, he makes just about anything that you would need.
Before I bought the module that goes into the 358, I had two pw's one on the camera and one on the flash, what I would do is that I would take the one off the camera, place my meter at the subject in my right hand, use the pw in my left hand to fire the flash.
I had to take the pw on and off the camera each time, but it worked and no wires.
Good luck.
bob_bill
If you cant afford pw's but can other triggers, about $80 at camera and each flash for elinchoms I just take the trigger out of the hotshoe and carry it to the subject, have the lights set up on trigger separately so can trigger each separately from the subject without going to the lights to turn it on or off.
