Tim, thanks for the comment! Great landscape for SOTC, love the colors, should make a very nice print. I'm a Ferrari guy myself, but appreciate great Porsche's.
Tim - it looks like a putting green because it is a putting. The best use of a golf course is for a car show. The Concorso was held this year, and hopefully will be well into the future, at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, not too far from the race track. A few mile inland on the Monterey Peninsula can make a world of difference weather wise.

Tim,
Ha ha. No doubt golf and photography are two expensive hobbies ... that's why I try to enjoy them both at the same time as much as possible to minimize cost 8>. But I don't think my better half understands my logic. Have a weekend everyone (and a nice long one for those in Canada and USA).

Thank you all for sharing your photos and a special thank you to whoever it was that pointed me in the direction to identify my bug...it's a Chrysoesthia drurella...or in laymen's terms...a tiny moth. Nice to know the name of my obsession. :) Now, on to my comments for this week:

Jose: As always, a lovely start to a wonderful thread. I spy a second parakeet in the background too.
Joseph: I love baseball and got to go to a Yankees game two years ago with my nephew. Very different atmosphere than the Astros games we've been to.
Paul B: Very nice composition and textures represented.
Bryan: Nice lighting and capture.
Anish: Such vibrant colors and sharp detail.
Monika: Very interesting eye effect, and love the tone of the skin.
Justin: Really cute photo that conveys the intensity kids get into with these things.
Shun: Nicely done. The way the racket and ball are in alignment really caught my eye.
Steven van Heerden: Brings back a recent trip to Austin and the famous crepes from Flip Happy Crepes. (They were in a throw down with Bobby Flay on the Food Network.) Yummo!
Ton: Nice shadow play.
Chris C: You know I love your dragonflies, and this is another good one. Congrats on the new lens and am looking forward to seeing photos with it.
Leo P: Nice composition.
Eric Arnold: I really like the expression you captured. His eyes are intense, but his mouth is a "near smile".
MS Keil: Cool looking rock formations and a nice overall tone to the shot.
Nick D: I love this. Dolphins are some of my favorite creatures in the world. Wonderful playful pose.
Mike C: Very good composition.
Hamish: Looks like a lovely place to camp. Is the water there really that blue?!
Jens: When I looked at this, a quote from the movie Lonesome Dove by Gus McCrae came immediately to mind, "The older the violin, the sweeter the music." (although the context and reference was a bit different ;-)
Ian: I can see in your photo what you felt.
Bernard: Your "other half" is lovely.
Rene: What a beautiful place! The pier/boardwalk might be a bit distracting, but I think it still works fine.
Alejandro: You did a nice job with the DOF. It's a constant challenge with a macro lens isn't it?
Leo: Very nice lighting and a cute little boy. I also like how well the "Air Travel Helicopter" patch came out. Very much a little boy's shirt.
Matt: Nice composition, sharp as a tack, and the tones are excellent.
Sjoerd: Not the most photogenic subjects, but I agree with you...I like the water shapes too.
Susan: I see these all the time and am impressed by how well you captured it. They're SO fast!
Gary: Cool technique.
Darko: Those jars are filled with creativity and fun for those kids. Nice colors and DOF.
Barry: Just enough breeze to give Old Glory a nice furl.
Joe: That's one shiny truck! Neat reflection.
Ken: I would have never thought this was a night picture (although Times Square is pretty bright, but still.) Nice flash use.
Uzay: Nice tones. My eye keeps going to the Busta Rhymes poster.
Jerry: I've been to, and participated in many of those "shindigs" when I was younger. How did you like it? I gave it up after a steer jumped and landed on my foot. Only broken bone I've ever had.
Elliot: Very pretty. Looks almost like a watercolor painting.
Harvey S: Welcome! Nice photo. Now I have a craving for fried green tomatoes!
Kent S: Nice and cool looking!
Richard A: I really like the crop on this. My eye is pulled in and follows the river. Nice photo.
Margaret: Looks like an inviting place.
John C: What a pretty loon. The feather details are wonderful.
Raden: That's a LOT of crabs and a pretty beach.
Carey: Good play with DOF.
Robert D: What a pretty little girl. The light on her face and eyes is nice and soft, as well as the back light on the chair.
AaronB: Looks like you succeeded to me, and very well I might add. Really cool.
Ray: I never realized they turn their front paws in like that, but after seeing several lion pics recently, notice this.
Dan P: Dylan is certainly a handsome boy and that hair! Lovely.
Jeff K: I have seen any up around here yet. Nice!
Pedro Cardoso: This is one of my favorites this week. The lighting matches the peacefulness of the baby, and captures the "sleep of the innocent" very well.
Adam Z: Nice shot and thanks for sharing the story as well. Some only need to rely on their music and can skip the bells and whistles/distractions.
Jesse G: Thats a cool light cycle and I really like the lighting/colors in this.
Aguinaldo: Wow! Such pretty toucans. My wake up call comes from big ol black grackles...not pretty like yours.
Paul V: Those are such pretty ducks! I love the coloring/patterns in their feathers.
Jim: Nice profile. He looks kind of sad.
Gwen: I can imagine the stories he has to tell.
Tim H: Nice "thumbs up" shadow in the window.
Thangavelu: Nice capture of the V formation. (Photo size limitations are posted at the top of the thread. Try to resize next time so your pic will post in the thread.)
Amy Z: I'm with you on that conclusion. Very nice lighting too.
Bogdan: Fishy indeed. What an interesting find.
Tom P: So pretty and nice sharp detail.
Mike O'Day: These miniature conversions are interesting.
Eddy F: Very nice backlight photo. Pretty colors too.
Jonas: Pretty colors and lines of the fallen trees.
Phil B: I know those lights. Nice capture.
Alastair :- Glad he cooperated...pretty animal!
Lawrence Ho: Wow, that looks like an HDR photo. Great colors and contrasts!
Ofey: Very pretty colors and detail on the feathers.
Eric B: That eye is fantastic. Very pretty.
Paul C: It does look like dancing water...very capture.
Sanford G: Whoa, that;s a cool car. Very spaceship looking
Mircea: Very lovely picture of a nearly lost way of doing things.
Wade: Evokes feelings of longing for better days.
Alex F: Check out this link for a fairly straightforward explanation and examples:
http://digital-photography-school.com/using-exposure-bias-to-improve-picture-detail
John DeMarco: Cool car (and nice old car reflection).
Laura: Thanks for sharing this. I hadn't heard or seen this.
Paula: Brilliant colors!
Benjamin S: Wonderful story and I like the picture too.
Eric Angelo: Cute pink little nose. :)
Doug S: What a fitting name. Beautiful color.
Keerthi: It's always fun to see "extra" things in nature.
Wayne: That is such a pretty area. I have fond memories of my visit.
Jose Antonio: Pretty girl :)
Steve V: This is just a cool looking photo. I like your processing technique.
Mikhail: Beautiful and such a contrast of colors.
Louis M: What a beautiful child and those eyes!
Thomas B: I'd love to see this for myself. Thanks for sharing it.
Tim E: Lovely colors.
Tony H: Very surreal feeling.
Janne: Love the red/black silhouette and energy captured.
Sandford D: If you need help posting, feel free to email me.
James K: I absolutely love your black & white photos. There is a warmth to them, yet a coolness as well...and everything looks so sharp and focused where the focus works best. (for me)
Heather- I can see from your photo why you love visiting there. I would too!
Ertugrul: Wonderful light and nice composition too.
Sergio G: Nice tones and contrasts.
Per-Christian: Summer is still going strong here (and will continue for a while longer), but your photo makes me wish autumn would hurry up. :)
Jeanne: I like seeing things we see everyday captured in a photo showing how light can change the whole look.
Rick D: I hope everyone was ok. I kept looking at it trying to figure how the truck jumped the curb right into the tree.
James B: Thanks for the explanation. I learn something new everyday!
Steve P: Love the hot pink goggles and that turquoise water!
Waldemar: Enjoy your vacation! I've been to Myrtle Beach a few times, but never during the peak season. Looks like the crowds are there!
Thadd: Nice reflection on the rocks, but a larger photo would help me appreciate the entire picture. I can't see much due to the small size.
Jim B: I love how everyone has a smile on their face! lol
Jared: Nice. (smaller size next time so we can see it in the thread)
Homer: Lovely bee and I'm partial to the close-ups too (and your lens ;-).
John K Hill: Kylee is a cutie...guess you proved her wrong. :)
Ilkka: Neat boat.
Jay M: Nothing better than a dog running and having a blast at the beach!
Kemal: Very nice night shot. Love the light coming through the water.
Martijn: Nice composition bringing the lines together.
Jam: Nice damsel fly. I see tons of them, but have yet to see one with dew on it.
Richard K: Wow, this is almost a fisheye affect because of the tree. Nice!
Luis A: I like how the light is falling on the pillow.
Biniyam: Yeab is a cutie!
Finlay: What a gorgeous butterfly.
Pietro: I can't see your photo. :(
Charles B: Nice composition and FUN!
Pete S: Very pretty wife and I like the natural light.
John DiLeo: I love red and really like the way the decorated eye is highlighted.
Lester: Amazing shot!
Hiro: I like the small red flicker of the candles. Very peaceful feeling.
Rafael: My sister would love this. She is a lighthouse aficionado.
Wenshu: Lovely black & while capturing the symmetry in nature.
Dane: Is the leader a woman?
Steve L: Beautiful night shot of the Space Needle/Seattle. Very well done.
Erick C: Neat and nice tones in the rust.
Paul S: LOL...great shot.
Jay P: Neat!
Lance: Congrats...funny shot.
Lex: Wow, that's sharp!
Cees: Very cool and would be great fun to see.
Yuriy: I like the lighting. I have difficulty with crops too, so not sure what to advise.
Dallas: Beautiful deer.
Ray: How close were you? Nice surf.

I hope I didn't miss anyone...until next week...happy shooting!

Thanks to those who comented on my photo.
There's very little to criticize in any of the shots here, but the standouts for me this week are Jose's parrot; Hamish's landscape - you sure picked an exposed spot to pitch your tent!; Matt's busker; Susan's hummingbird; Richard's beautiful shot of Horseshoe Lake; Aaron's miniature town; Janne's silhouette; James' gallery; Ertugrul's atmospheric silhouettes; Jeanne's front door; and Hiro's church. Excellent!

Thanks to everyone who commented!
@Tim Evans - The focus point was the boards just below the biker. The shadows started out slightly more intense so I used the shadow protection slider in Capture NX2 to back them off a little. The biker being in the shot was just one of those flukes. He just happened to step into the frame right as I was pressing the button.

Thanks to Gary McGhee, Ray Gosalia, Steve Vanderford, Richard Karash, Eric Arnold, Matt Laur, Mike O’Day, Tim Evans, Jeannean Ryman and Chris Court for taking the time to comment on my photo.
Tim, I know what you mean about the grass in the foreground. However I think it adds to the feeling of being there, so I chose to go with it :-)
Jeannean, I wasn’t sure about the blue water you were referring to. I only see grey water in the lake and a little blue tint in the water in the distant fjord.
Chris, it looks more exposed than it was. There is still another 100 feet of steep hill to the left of the tent :-)
Here are some that stood out for me this week.
Chris’ dragonfly. It’s amazing how close you manage to get them.
Ian’s forest path. It’s like I get pulled in.
Gary’s reflection in the water. It’s beautiful.
Richard’s pond. Another fantastic landscape.
Aaron’s “miniature” Popeye village. Fantastic effect.
Pedro’s baby foto. Beautiful!
Amy’s Diner. It has a kind of nostalgic feel to it.
Mike O’Day’s Railroad. Love the miniature effect. I read your tutorial in your blog. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing the technique.
Mikhail’s mountains. I look forward to seeing more of your Norway shots.
And all the rest of course. Lots of interesting shots! I look forward to next week.

Really love these WedNEsDAy PiC-threads, so thank you Jose for starting these! I believe that these threads work as great substitute for critique forum where it seems a bit difficult to get critique to your shots these days. While these threads do not work as a critique thread per se, and while I would like to have some true (creative) critique on how to improve my photography, at least you get some feedback on what's good in your photos through these threads. And of course the feeling of being a part of PN-Nikon community truly crystallizes in these WedNEsDAy PiC-threads. So thank you again Jose and thank you everyone who participates in these threads (& special thanks goes to Jeannean, Lil & Tim & others who take time to comment nearly all the photos in these threads)! And while I'm thanking, big thanks to everyone who commented on my shot in this week.

And here are some short comments on some of the photos that caught my attention this week:
Monika E - Great work with PS & very expressive eyes
Justin W - Nice light, well balanced
Ton M - You truely are one of the masters of B/W-conversion
MS Keil - I almost can smell the water, Fuji S5 is a great tool
Ian R - Love the light and the green in your shot
Gary McG - Lovely colours and I really like the effect the water creates (used the same technique in a short film once)
Jeannean R - Great capture!
Aaron B - You really nailed the miniature-effect!
Pedro C - Cutest pic in the thread!
Jesse G - As me being an old nerd, your photo really touches my heart. :)
Bogdan N - I hate fish, but the tones in your shot are great!
Mike O'Day - Someday I really need to learn how to do that miniature-effect!
Mircea C - Great portrait!
Wade R - Powerful portrait I must say
Steve V - Intresting PS-work!
Louis M - Beautiful eyes!
James K - Nice B/W-tones
Ertugrul K - Very atmospheric shot!
Luis A - Nice light
Wenshu C - Quite symbolic shot, great!
Lance N - Funniest one in the thread, you must have had great time in the shoot!
Cees M - Great shot, nice composition!
Yuriy G - Love those B/W tones!
And others - Great work, I liked all the shots in this thread for different reasons, see you all next week!

Thanks for the kind comments Richard, Thomas, Jeannean and Janne. I was hesitant to post the image. It's from our family reunion last weekend. We had just finished our annual balloon toss and I think my Uncle Harold was feeling a little nostalgic.

I am so sorry for my late arrival to this amazing thread. My sister & family have returned to France, but I've been in desperate need of time to recoup from her visit. All is so busy, busy, busy while she's here.
I've finally had a chance to pp some of the photos from the last few weeks of their visit & have had a hard time trying to decide what to post. I really dislike those times. I love it when I have one shot I really want to post. So Andrea has picked this one for me.
Ah well..... I want to start by thanking Shun for allowing me time to get this together & not closing the thread. Thank you so very much Shun.
So first up - my photo this time is taken with the D700 & the 24-70 f/2.8 at ISO 200 1/1000s f/8 & -2/3 EV at 70mm - - yes I did photograph a pelican with the 24-70mm. Silly juvenile Brown Pelican did not know not to fly in amongst the people.... post processed in first NX2 - then CS3.
One has to wonder who's observing who & who's photographing who......
