Do you ever catch people secretly taking your picture?

It's happened a few times to me; most humorously when Javier G. (where has he been recently by the way?) snapped me at a war protest a few months back and posted the picture here without knowing it was me. I don't mind having my picture taken when I'm out and about. We all would be hypocrits if we did.

I have been photographed more by strangers than by my own family...maybe that is why I have resorted to trying to learn how to take self-portraits. In my younger days I used to get photographed on the beach alot, or modeling in fashion shows... and for some reason I've shown up on the news waiting at red lights or attending funerals. It doesn't bother me in the least, as long as I stay anonymous.

"It happens to me often being a particularly handsome photogenic dude..."

Haha, this is the best one for me so far. Applause.

Who cares about that guy, to be honest she may take my photo any day of the week ;-) Anybody you know Barry? Or do you merely having your wife lugging your gear around? Would be quite possible because my wife gives me the exact same look if I try to take a photo of her. She used to model at some time, go figure.

Never saw her before, don't even know if she took a photo of me, she seemed to be focused on buildings and details (or so she seemed). I walked right up to her and took this pic, and I'm not even sure if she ever knew I was there. I saw the dude in the background, but looking through a 28mm finder, I really couldn't see his expression, and didn't even know if he was with her. Didn't see his expression until I downloaded the file. That's the thing about cameras, they capture what's there, but the mind's eye tends to draw conclusions that aren't neccessarily valid. I would think looking at this, that he was pissed off at me for taking the pic, or impatient at her for taking so long to take hers, but he could just as well have been looking at something completely unrelated and not even emoting in a way the picture suggests. Some photos just seem to suggest connections between dots, that may or may not be there.
It's one reason, I tend to, but not always, draw a distinction between street and documentary.

I was totally engrossed in photographing a parade of Mardi Gras Indians, when suddenly there was a girl in my face with a point and shoot. Thinking she must be shooting at something more interesting behind me, I took a step to the side; she took a step the same way. I took another step. She took another step. So, I figured out she was photographing me, turned around, got totally re-imersed in the parade. It didn't bother me the bit, but I couldn't figure out why she was photographing a middle aged white woman in khaki when there was a parade of black men in brilliantly colored, beaded and feathered costumes dancing down the street.

Maybe he was checking her out and was upset that he got busted (hoping you didn't work for the local newspaper).

Considering that there are literally cameras all over the place, it's no surprise! Cell phones and all the new digital shooters plus law enforcement cams contribute to the production. Some of the expressions above are terrific and thanks for the grins!

I guess I must be unphotogenic...never happens to me

Me neither...... but then, when I'm taking unsolicited photographs I try to be as nondescript and inconspicuous as possible. I wouldn't have a clue if some numbnut was taking my picture and I couldn't care less.

it doesn't bother me that other people photograph me, what bothers me is that i'm not likely to ever see or have a copy of their photo!

wouldn't it be neat if one of us posted a photo of another of us here on this forum without having previously known one another?! like what if i took an awesome photo of one of you that you didn't even know existed and then you suddenly saw it here on this forum?!
