Dropped Kodak Disposible, Front Plate Fell Off: is Film Ruined?

Recommended Posts

I have this Kodak disposible camera: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=1046&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=616 and accidently dropped it today on concrete and the silver colored platic front plate that you can see in the phtot came off (happened outdoors, cloudy day, was off for about 10 to 15 seconds).

I was halfway through the roll and had taken shots already before the front plate came off the are important to me. Will those shots still be OK? Thanks in advance, Andre Noble (www.andrenoble.com)

I would guess that the plastic front plate is purely cosmetic. Your shots are probably fine. Can you see any part of the film?
You can take it in for processing, and if it's ruined, ask them not to print it. That way it will only cost you a couple of bucks for the processing.

More importantly, most if not all disposables, contain a 35mm cartridge that is initially extracted when the camera is manufactured. Asyou take pictures the film is wound back into the cartridgewhere it is safe. So even if you break the camera apart the current photo could be destroyed along with a portion of the previous photo. But photos taken prior to that will be safe.
