Honestly, I believe in the same thing. The more you give in life, the better you feel, and hopefully it will inspire whoever you choose to go out there and give back to the community as well. I'm a new photographer who is having a hard time getting my feet of the ground. I didn't grow up with money, and have been trying to save up for my first camera for over a year now (I started when I was 18, I'm 19 now). I never had money for university or college, so I'm in the middle of teaching myself Photography from books and online learning websites such as this one. I just found out about this website, and to be honest, I would love the chance to take advantage of a whole year of subscription, seeing as how I will finally have enough money for my camera in a few weeks time and this would really help me develop my skills.

But to be honest, I've been reading what other people are saying...and I do believe that there are other people out there who would need it more then I would. So I strongly encourage you to consider everyone and hopefully you will pick people who really don't have opportunities like this coming to them. I'm sure I can save up for my own membership eventually, so I wish luck on all those applicants who are genuinely good people, and who truly need this...<div>00QeMR-67405584.jpg.b0fb6d16b8f432a045ab0130cf60515b.jpg</div>

Already have one, so not putting my name in the hat either. I know this is an annual gesture on your part Patrick and you are to be commended. Ton Mestrom gets my vote also, as a short time member he's gone out of his way to give a lot more to this site than he takes.

many thanks good sir, please put me in the draw, just FYI i saw a article on the news down here in old New Zealand last week and it was a chap spending a portion of the day, walking the streets doing "randam acts of kindness" to strangers ie buying them a cup of coffee, carrying old ladies shopping home etc, and i thought it was a fantastic idea, So did the surprised people i must say. Hopefully others will be motivate by your idea.

many thanks

Mark

I would had consider Ton Mestrom for it, after 2 people (or 3) mention is name, i know it would have been a *manual* pickup, not a ramdom one..but he contact me and ask to not choose him for reason i dont have to explain, he sound like a really nice guy and i hope he will stay in that community. I wish him luck for all is project, and after a small email, hes a guy im happy to know : )

_______

I mention Montreal Passion Photo and receive email asking what that was..

Well to make a really long story short, 20 people from different background mainly not in the photo business for many of them but with photo as a passion and a hobby, decide to create a group that will promote photography with different activities across the years, and all the profit will be donate to the Hopital Maisonneuve Rosemont in Montreal, to the children department.

Next years, 2009, will be the real launch for us as whe will be associate with a huge sport event (pro hockey team 100th anniversary), and one of the best sport photographer that cover them for more than 20years (and many olympic games) will be with us, as for now i cant talk more about it, but if youre in Montreal around june july 2009, come and see is images : )

It a major time investment, as i do this in my none existent free time : ) a lot have to be done; getting some sponsor to help us with the expense, i will do all the printing using a epson 7880..around 600 prints..finding a place to make the exposition etc.. The same could be done everywhere in the world, in a smaller scale, but it doestn take much to help others, it doestn take much to get a smile from someone you help.

heres the web site, for now in french only, in english when whe can..

See. there are some wonderful people in the world.

my reason for not having yet purchased a subscription is my lack of knowledge and understanding. im spending hours reading and attempting so dont really have much spare cash yet for it (although the penny pot is growing)

i too am a volounteer with a national (UK) first aid group (SJA) and weekly spend time capturing different events i attend in the hope of expanding my knowledge.

but there are a whole heap of people well deserving of a free subscription.

good on you.

Please consider me as well. I know I don't deserve it, especially considering everything else I've received for free from this great site (more specifically, the members of this great community!). But I would really love it (and try to put it to good use)! Thanks.
