vinay_patel
I've been suckered twice by nikon with first run dslr's. Couldn't pay me enough to go near that M8 with all the M7 and DMR issues. </p> So your motto is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, everybody's out to fool me."</p> What exactly are "all" the DMR issues? Looking at the Nikon and Canon forum all the models are plagued with issues too. Maybe better to stick with a cellphone camera for the next 10-15 years, at least those you can replace once a year for free if you hop providers. And most of the "issues" with the M7 are <a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00HxQ5&tag=">pilot error</a>
EricM
James, what brand names are they?
james mitchell dc
Eric, it looks like right now they are only carrying Transcend, Patriot and ACP in 4-gig, but they used to have SanDisk, I'm pretty sure. Their stock varies. I got another brand that was reviewed in Luminous Landscape. I don't have it with me right now.

james mitchell dc
Eric, the one on Luminous Landscape was called RiData.
EricM
any reluctance or problems, James, in using the less known manufactures? I'm hesitant actually but the price always puts it into consideration...
james mitchell dc
I haven't had any problems. I have cards from Pasnasonic, SanDisk, Transcend, RiData, Lexar, etc. The high speed pro cards are the most pleasant to use, but they can be pricey ($200+ for 2-gig cards in Japan). I really like the Lexar and SanDisk pro 133X and 150X cards best. But I've had no issues beyond speed with any of them. The RiData 4-gig card does not format in my RD-1s, but it does in my Digilux 1 and old Casio mini digital. It also works beatifully in my HP Pocket PC. It is a pro-level 150X card and sells for about $95.

Landrum Kelly
Canon 5D w/ Nikon 600 f/4 (yep, it works fine), digital sensor, no film. Sorry. --Lannie
Landrum Kelly
Oops! Missed the part about the extended trip. Scratch the 600mm lens. You asked for only one. That makes it tough. There's always the 50 1.4, of course. --Lannie
Landrum Kelly
Oops again. I followed a link and didn't know it was a Leica thread. Can't afford one. I'm taking donations, though. Write me for details. Now I'm outa here. Sorry. --Lannie
