randy_ratzlaff
Need some advice on a photo-sharing Web site. My goal is to post pictures and sync it with music. Adding music to the pictures is VERY important to me. I would also like the capability of burning the "show" on a DVD. I have a MAC OS 10 system. Thanks for the help. Charles_Webster
Please make sure to get a license to use the music. Just as you don't want your pictures used w/o your permission, musicians don't want their music used w/o permission. Even "private use" is a violation of copyright. When you purchase a CD, you purchase ONLY the right to PLAY THAT CD, not use it for a slide show for friends, relatives, or website visitors. <Chas>
phule
Charles answer regarding copyright is wrong. Randy, if you are concerned, you should read up on Fair Use.
geoff_foale
Hello Randy. Can't help very much with a photo web site but some people use Flickr. It is photos only - no music! There are a number of programmes that enable you to create a slide show with music, I think ACDSee might be suitable but the trouble is that your show could only be viewed by someone with the same programme. Last year, as a test piece, I used an old video editing programme called MGI Video Wave to create a show of photos and music as an MPEG on a CD which could be viewed by anybody. It was a bit of a mind stretcher but the eventual result was well received. I didn't have any problems with copyright as I used my photos of our local music festival and the composer is a friend. Using MGI Video Wave allowed me to create a five minute show by combining individual photos. Some video creation programmes only allow for the editing of video clips. I set my photos to hold for around 8 seconds plus 2 seconds for merging between photos. Working out the mix of photos and music was a real headache as I wanted specific photos to match the music exactly! Also, using the same programme, I did create some 5 minute animated cartoons set to music - but that is another story. If you can find a suitable programme give it a go but allow yourself plenty of time. Geoff.
darrellm
Hey Randy, why not use iphoto. You can create a slideshow and add music from itunes and save it a quicktime. You can burn it on dvd by using Toast 6.
