Price guide software

I have read some of the messages about pricing your work. They have

been very informative. I have been looking for some software that

will aid me in determining some price and will help track my work. I

have only come across two programs so far, FOTOQUOTE and one by a

company called Hindsight. Can anyone give me advise about any

software programs they are using. Thanks!

I have both and I use the Hindsight Photo Price Guide 2 as my primary pricing /

usage guide. realizethat any of these numbers recommended by any price guide are

not "set in stone" but the HPPG2 goes a long way towards getting in to the right

ballpark (to mix metaphors). The negotiation & pricing rationale in both programs is

very useful.

I'm a Fotoquote guy. I wasn't aware there was a Hindsight pricing program, so maybe I'll check it out, too. But Fotoquote has worked great for me over the years, and is very educational just reading the info and working the calculations. Most of my commercial photographer peers use it, as well as some stock agencies and ad agencies I know.

A less expensive option that a lot of photographers use is Jim Pickerell's (sp?) book called Pricing Stock Photography, or something like that.

These resources are extremely valuable for putting in perspective what your pictures are worth for commercial use.

FotoQuote 5.0 (a new release) is killer! Works straight out of the box on OS X

and does not require an upgrade from 9.0

Sister program to FotoBiz. Cradoc Bagshaw wrote both of these programs

along with the not-forgotten, Cradoc Caption Writer.

The new version of FotoBiz will incorporate FotoQuote 5.0 (look for it this

summer)

The Hindsight program is also good.
