Hewes 35mm Reels in 1-35mm Kinderman SS Tank - Not snug fit inside?

I just bought a 35mm Hewes SS reel and a Kinderman SS Tank for one

35mm reel. The reel fit perfectly in the tank. However, there is

some space(about 1/4-1/3 inch) between the top of the reel and the

cap for Kinderman tank when closed.

In other words, when agitating the reel has some room and it moves

up and down. Is this normal or it's supposed to have snug fit?

What's your experience? Thanks.

Some movement is desirable, in fact -- it helps ensure you get good circulation during agitation, even if the tank is filled the point of haveing little or no air space above the developer. What you describe is about what I'm used to in my Nikor and Brooks tanks with whatever brand of reels they came with (I got all my equipment used, so don't know the brand of reels).
