Thanks Gary. It was very confusing to me too. Maybe he feels that the negatives will become brittle but I have never heard of scanning damaging the negs unless you're throwing them around and putting fingerprints on them.

Hey Everyone, I've been scanning some archived negatives from 1970's. I was recently talking to someone about scanning them and they said to me : "I am concerned about the double-scanning--meaning each time the negatives are handled and scanned they dry out a little more" Now I'm not a master technician but I've been shooting film for 6-7 years and I've never heard of anything like this. I'm using archival gloves to handle everything and everything is stored in dust free sleeves, away from sunlight in a constant temperature. But this statement seems totally stupid to me. I am really hoping to know what you guys think.

I think the best way to handle this seems to be to service the lens :(<br> @<a href="/photodb/user?user_id=2403817">Rodeo Joe</a> : I'm using a cheap cowboy radio trigger (from amazon). I've not had any issues with the trigger system either with my Canon digital system or the Hasselblad 500C.</p>

<p>@<a href="/photodb/user?user_id=640949">Jochen Schrey</a> : If I understand correctly, if the flash is used on a radio trigger then there is no direct correlation between its sync voltage and the camera yes, as there is no direct contact?</p>

<p>@Russ Britt : I do imagine your friend's actions to be right. I've researched that there is something called "carbon buildup" which sometimes interferes with the flash firing mechanism. I wanted to explore every option before I try to send this for servicing as well, as every photographer, I'm a little low on cash :(</p>

<p>Hey!<br> So I have a Mamiya RB67 and I've been trying to use a flash with it but am coming up with problems.<br> - I'm using a PC Sync cord to connect the Mamiya to a radio trigger which is connected to a Nikon SB26.<br> - The camera is firing normally but the flash doesn't fire.<br> - I tried firing on X mode first, flash did not fire. Surprisingly it fired a couple of times on the M mode.<br> - Because I thought the lens might have problems, I tried using another lens and it had the same problem. No flash on X mode, but fires a few times on M mode.<br> - To confirm if the PC Sync cable is ok, I used the same setup on my Hasselblad but it worked perfectly on it. <br> - I also tried cleaning the terminals with some alcohol, no significant change in situation.<br> Any ideas?</p>
