R7 with EF100-400 and 1.4x extender; 100% crop. Tripod mounted and 10 sec timer at f/8. Wilson Ave water intake crib for Chicago which is inactive and supposedly scheduled for demolition. It seems to be a bird sanctuary and is just over 4 miles from me according to Google maps.

Zoom in with the camera of a phone! That can help as well. I was having an ice cream outside an ice cream shop about a year ago and couldn't make out the name on the façade of a building across the street. I took a picture with my point-and-shoot after zooming in and voila! Turns out it was "Studebaker"! The building was originally a Studebaker car dealership! I'm glad the present company in that building kept the original façade. Some people respect history!
