1.
I'm tried a couple of the big comercial companies and they only seem to develop and scan "standard" 1024x786 small .jpg's.

Do you guys know of a company that scans bigger, or does this cost your left arm + kidney?

 2.
When you guys say you shoot it at 1600, does that mean you set the ISO to 1600 on the camera? Sorry, I'm really new to film.

 3.
You all have really good points, I guess photography is alot like a good movie or a good music album, it provokes emotion from within.

 4.
Good day!

I'm relative new to photography, having recently purchased a used Canon 40D, with a 18-55mm kit lens and a 50mm 1.8 quite cheap. I guess this isn't the worst setup to have. I've read a bit about basic photgraphy and understand the basics of ISO, aparture, exposure etc. I've played a bit with photoshop and lightroom in the past aswell.

Now the question is, where do I go from here? The web is filled with contradicting beginner tips and so on, so it would be great to get some pointers from you guys regarding stuff to learn, books to read, websites to check out.
I'm sorry if a similar thread already excists or if this isen't the right place to ask this.

Best regards.
