I was looking through you folders. I like this one a lot. His expression is very calming- yet it's this huge hippo. Better to use a polarizer next time to abbreviate that glass glare and such. Ya' know that 49mm one that fits the diamage I gave you- focker.

Try using tungsten film and shoot this place at dusk. I think if the background sky was real blue and you still had good ambient light (from the sun) to help with your exposure you'll be happy with your ugly duckling.

It says in your equipment specs you used a Minolta Dimage 7 with fuji 400. Can you specifically describe where you put the roll of film in 7? Just curious. Thanks nips.

Well, I guess this is a macro shot. I mean really all people do is use macro for flowers. I dunno, I'd think there would be someone out there trying to break through to the next photographic revolution- start a new trend. The detail is good here but what's the emotion? Eh? Emotion? What am I feeling or suppose to feel? C'mon Jon the pressure is on. ;-)

This first shot I have see on photonet of the arc lamp memorial.
Got my vote for POW, but the elves will just pick another meaningless close up of some weathered faced homeless person. But whatever- you still got a fantastic shot.

If I may make a suggestion. Don't use such fast films when shooting at night; more importantly don't push film for night exposures- you simply don't need to. Use a slower ISO and expose longer. Your images at night could look a lot sharper if you use finer grain/slower ISO film. Check out the "Lost America" website for some great tips from a fantastic night photographer. He'll tell you his exposures are usually 8 to 10 mins @ ISO 50.

I just like this one. The underexposed shape of the slide with the little girl climibing up- great stuff- not to mention it's during magic hour.

I think this photo screams: "Take me into photoshop and make me black and white!".

This is great. Great lighting technique.

In the caption: 'The reason this photo was chosen'- it claims this photo is an example of how you don't need expensive equipment to render out quality photos. I'm sorry but last time I checked Contax cameras were a little on the high end- not to mention the Zeiss lens he used? Perhaps my idea of non-expensive greatly differs from theirs. So, I'm to understand there are lenses more expensive than Zeiss? Maybe, but I wouldn't say Zeiss isn't expensive. I don't think they should have included that as a reason.

Dave, as always great night work. I dont like that thingy sticking up in the front but other than that it looks great!

The Mcdonalds sign is crazy looking. how did you get the stationary objects to streek like this??

I think there is some cropping that could be done? Maybe just shave off the second tap. My reason is we still get the point she's at a bar/a bartender behind the bar but just negates some of the negative space that can cause one to loose focus on what (I believe) you want them to 'see'.

First time out with the Maxxum 5 shooting at night. I would
appreciate any comments.

Wow shot with an RB? A lot of shake- guess that's why the RB is primarily for studio work and not location photography.

I shoot a lot of night stuff. I haven't been able to post it b/c it's on reversal- so I think I have a trained eyes opinion. GREAT SHOT- the couple in the bottom foreground really brings a nice touch to some great lighting effects and a surreal sky.

Needs to be black and white. The lighting doesn't warrant it to be a color portrait- my 2 cents.
-
You'll notice a certain pattern in 'tastes' here on photo.net. It's a darn good picture and it's very dramatic. I shoot similar shots of the sunset here in Florida. Anyway keep up the great work.

I like the texture and color. A pretty original marco-esque flower photo. Good detail.

I would crop the negative space around her. Her eyes say a lot- and that background kinda just doesnt need to be there. Nice emotion you captured.

Ok so everyone has valid suggestions for how to shoot candid portraits. But to address the last comment- the best way to improve composition, and often times the lighting is to change the camera position. LOL, now granted that isn't going to take the place of a bounce card- but fill flash should be and ok compromise. All in all my opinion of street photography is to shoot and see what you get. Manipulating street shots just doesn't seem 'right'. I would have liked to have seen her exhale some smoke in this shot. Thanks

That angle works. She looks a little overexposed but I dig it.

Watch your background focker. Austin's expression is good, but that emotion is where? Maybe an up angle getting the sky in there vs. the garage would have been better. So go to my folder now and bust my balls a little.
