After say 2000 shots, I got this one to-day.

Do I have to worry? Getting it serviced or checked in India is not
so easy. Any suggestions or similar experiences? By the way, I was
trying to take a shot of flying bird and that is sky in the pic.
Shutter was at 1/400. This is the first time it happened and pics
before and after this shot are normal.

I am aware of the back focus problem. I still do not know if my camera or kit lens has the problem. I checked with ruler and newspaper at an angle and camera seems to focus fine. Most of the shots are well focussed. I get the focus error only in "some" of the potraits of my one and half year daughter while others appear very good. I dont know if using AFS mode on kid who moves rather than AFC is the cause. I have a question for those with focus errors. Are all of your photos out of focus at wide apertures or more than 50%? For me may be >80% are well focused if I did it properly.

Thank you Mr.Steve Chan for your effort and information. From the pictures I dont see much difference (to my eye) in the image quality. I think at present I don't need the fastness of 85mm lens. I mainly take portraits of kids at home. I think flexibility of zoom and Bokeh too are important. Price is a matter too.
Ikka Nisila, I got one on ebay with out zoom creep for 100$. I am going to get it.

I heard good things about 75-150E zoom. Is the quality of 85 F1.8
Nikkor way superior to this zoom or is the difference marginal? I find
the flexibility of composing with zoom advantageous. Any body who used
both?

Then I guess these much talked about ambient light and fill-flash techniques work only when the shutter speeds are in the range of flash sync.

Can any one help me with this situation?
I take Portraits in available light. Some times I like to add fill
flash for catch lights.
Suppose the Ambient light reading is 1/500 at 2.8 in Programme or
Aperture Priority mode. Is there a way I can add flash at that
aperture setting itself, as I want shallow depth of field? Because
once I switch on the built in flash of my N70 or switch on my mounted
SB22s, shutter changes to 1/125 and aperture to 5.6 when in programme
mode or shutter changes to 1/125 and overexposure warning shows up in
Aperture priority mode with aperture at 2.8. Thanks in advance.
Sweetspot for Nikon 70-300G

I bought a Tamron 75-300mm LD zoom for my D70. It showed extensive
purple fringing. I returned it and bought Nikon 70-300mm G. This has
much less fringing. What is the sweetspot for this lens, focal
length as well as aperture. Would be happy if you can go through my
gallery and have a look at my first ever attempt with this lens on
flying birds today. Thanks in advance.
