Thank you for the prompt reply. I got serviced at Nikon USA itself. Service report states that; Service repair Rank B2; Repair SC 201759; Repair SC 200273; rest CKD focus etc.

My D200 has autofocus problem too. It does not focus screw-driven lenses like AFD series where it goes to infinity and keeps trying to go beyond infinity. It works fine with AFS lenses. I sent it twice to Nikon Service and the problem is not solved. What should I do? Any help is appreciated. http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00UGH0

Thank you all for the responses. I own a Pentacon 135mm preset M42 lens (15 bladed one, famed for its bokeh) and was using it on my Pentax K20D. Recently I switched over to Nikon D200 and mounted this lens with non-optical adapter. Later I noticed this;
Could this be due to the adapter shorting some circuits on the mount?

Any body using M42 screwmount lenses on their Nikon DSLRs with adapter? Any information is appreciated.

All AFD lenses and not with AFS lenses showing that there is something wrong with focusing screw in camera.

-

My new D200 stopped focussing AFD lenses. AFS lenses with SWM focus fine. I think something wrong with the focusing screw on the body. When I press shutter release, lens focus is shifting all the way to infinity and getting stuck there, attempting to move the focus ring beyond infinity. Anybody with similar experience? Please help me out.

Thank you for your appreciation. Once the Dragonfly lands on a dry twig, it does not flyaway quickly if you approach it slowly step by step. Atleast that is what my observation is. You can see some more macros of mine with that lens at this link http://www.flickr.com/photos/skamaraju/sets/72157607128055123/

JP,
I used Vivitar Series 1 105mm 2.5 macro.

-

How about this taken with Vivitar? Sorry for the downsized version. Original version shows facets in the eye clearly.

I have a Vivitar Series 1 100mm f/2.5 macro and I like it. I would appreciate any comparisions between Vivitar and Tamron.

www.photodo.com has a positive review on it. Even on other forums, users unanimously seem to be happy with Pentax 50-200 zoom.
-
Some more samples I saw on www.clubsnap.org too seemed to show more of CA. Otherwise image appears to be good. I am interested in the test too. I am about to buy a macro and am still confused over whether to go for time tested Tamron or New Tokina with better build.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I wanted to say Stylus Epic, missed it and typed mju.

Point and Shoot FILM camera. Can somebody suggest one? Sometimes I
feel D70 is too much to carry around. I want to carry a P & S FILM
camera for candids as there is no digital compact camera with quick
response. I don't mind single focal length camera with slightly
faster lens, something like Olympus mju.

Check Nikon accessories at www.bocaphoto.com

"It will be easier to handle smaller setup (180 + 1.4) than the 300/4. With tele converter removed you will also have excellent 180/2.8 for all other purpose like portrait, graduation, weddings, travel, etc. You would have much less use of the 300/4 outside of the socker field or widelife."
This is a good suggestion. I recently received Nikon AF180mm f/2.8 as a gift from my brother

In weddings, do you use flash? My 18-70 is very sharp as such and much more so when I use flash. I tend to use F5.6 and above.

On Sigma Japan website, it clearly shows that EF500 DG Super supports i-TTL.

Even I am on the look out for any info on this.
-
My initial impression too was that the lens is not sharp. But, after a reply to my thread regarding sweetspot of the lens (I could not find any reviews on the lens), I started using f8 and smaller apertures. Now I find my images are sharp as well.

Recently I bought Nikon 70-300G zoom after returning Tamron 75-300mm
which showed excessive CA. I find Nikon's Bokeh very good with
creamy backgrounds, on par with Nikon 75-150E lens which I used. Any
similar experiences?

Thank you. That is very useful information for me.
