<i>no people wanted to see the "multivision show" about the new H1</i><BR><BR>
Not surprising, since who would want to sit through such a thing except for brand cultists. And these same fans are too busy crying and ripping their hair out, screaming that the apocalypse is upon us.

The Agfa Isolette III offered to you in your other "vintage folders" thread is a much better camera and an excellent price.

Naturally, the answer to your first question is already here.

The second question has probably been answered, too, but I'm too lazy to look it up. I guess that makes two of us. ;-)

Before everyone chimes in with their recommendations, from Leica to a 4x5, I'm wondering just how important size and weight are in your decision?
The reason I ask is that on picture quality alone, the three systems you mentioned are all top-notch (but there is always some angels-on-a-pinhead quibbling about quality differences). Get the cameras in your hands--rent, borrow, or at least play with them for a few minutes in a store--and you might be able to narrow the field right then and there.
Have you looked at the Fuji GA645zi? It might be a good compromise among the size, weight, and versatility concerns. And if you can't fit a tripod, what about a monopod?

"Now that I know how lousy my Contax 645 system is."
Please, please--no one else add any more personal opinions. It might hurt poor Tom's feelings. He may have to go on a sarcastic tirade again because two people found his system not to their own liking.

First of all, this site (photo.net) has lots of info and links already. Do a search for "folders" and you will find tons of info. That being said, try these also:
http://people.smu.edu/rmonagha/mf/cameras.html
http://www.cleanimages.com/articles/MediumFormatInYourPocket/
http://www.amdmacpherson.com/classiccameras/index.html
http://www.cosmonet.org/camera/index_e.html
http://homepage.mac.com/mattdenton/photo/cameras/folders.html
And of course, you can always go to eBay, look at the folders there, then do your own Web searches for specs on individual cameras.

I don't understand how a non-T/S MF lens will offer you movements when put onto your EOS.

RE: why the URL won't work
Somehow, a extra space got added in the URL given above. Cutting and pasting shouldn't be that hard, but so be it.

Your postmaster was a kid?

"Discussing the future of a particular camera model is ironic in the extreme on the verge of the anniversary of 9/11. "
How is this ironic in any way? Was Pentax's USA headquarters at the Twin Towers or something?
Sorry, I fail to see "irony" here. Or maybe you're using Alanis Morissette's definition of irony. Wait, even her definition doesn't work.
Shoule we all fall silent from all discussions until 9/12? In fact, I hope this forum shuts down completely for the next week, just to avoid any instances of irony.

Expect an SQ body, standard lens, back, and WLF to run over 1.5 kg (or 3.3 lbs).

Jeff:
Name names! Put your testimony in the user recommendations section.

Stay far away from Manfred Schmidt. The price on every camera they sell is 2 or 3 times what it is supposed to be.
And the rapair "fellow" is less than stellar, despite the undeserved cult following he has.

There is lots of information already here. Do a search for "scala," and many threads will come up about B&W slides and everything related to reverse processing et al. that you asked about (i.e., not just scala).
Or just sit back and wait for the responses to roll in.

here's a chart of zeiss folders:
-
about two thousand dollars
-
When you're considering that you're getting a new $410 lens and a new body for only $290 more, the deal seems quite nice.

I see that "Word of the Day" calendar has really paid off.

"If the tripod shots are sharp and the handheld ones are soft, it's camera shake"
Wouldn't that mean "person shake," not camera shake?

RE: "An old trick...simply remove 40% from a med format(645 or 6x6) lenses focal length to get a approximate 35mm equal.(40% of 80=32 80-32=48.)"
Hmmm...wouldn't it be easier to just multiply by 60% in the first place? No wonder we (the U.S.) always rank low in math.

Rather than banty about which warranty is better, I'd like to hear from anyone who has needed a P645 (any version) repaired within the first 365 days of ownership and why.
-
$38 for only a shutter repair in 1977? Ouch. That's $113 in today's money. (http://www.cjr.org/resources/inflater.asp)

Try this link:

There's also a book:
William Steinberg, Minolta Twin-Lens Reflex Guide, 1968 -- Covers the Autocord III and CdS III only, plus a bit of technique. Has 95 pages.
Rant: Why are there even admonishments to search the archives before posting a new question (in red and boldface in two different places on the post new question page)? They seem to do no good whatsoever.

With a name like Heinz Grasshoff, it's gotta be good.
Mamiya 645j. Any good?
