I still use my D1, too! I'm trying to wean myself from always shooting it in RAW by tuning it to give decent JPEGs right out of the camera - I find the D1 NEF workflow to be tedious compared to newer bodies. If I can't tune it to my liking, I'll just keep it for an IR body.
However, I'd be lying if I said I'd grab the D1 before my new D300!

I agree on the 17-55 - then sell the 18-70 and put the money toward a 12-24.

Revolutions? One, followed by shutter replacement.
Cycles? 150K as mentioned above.
(Get it if the price is right!)

"Usually it would be gross misconduct."
That was my first thought - caught with his fly down or somesuch.
-
I regularly use my 40 on my M6 and have no problems, but I've found it to be even better on my M3 using the entire VF FOV.

Wonderful images - thank you for posting them!

Neil, assuming one from a If will fit and you still need one, drop me a line...

Add my voice to the chorus - 500 c/m, 80 CF and a couple A12 backs.

I just ran across this old thread of mine, and thought I should give it closure. I ended up getting the 80-200 2.8D in 5/06 and have had absolutely no flare issues at all. Highly recommended for shooting with points of light in the frame!

Only one? My M6 and 35 Cron ASPH - that's what I use 75% of the time anyway!
-
I would start with KEH and go from there.

Manuel, you are a lucky man! I agree with the advice to get a 50 for your first lens.

What's the matter? Are the potential Craigslist buyers finding the thread and getting scared off?

I've had nothing but good results from DAG on both repairs/service and parts purchases. Very fast and polite service, he always answers my emails, and is generally a nice guy to deal with.
I always keep emails sent to Don short and sweet so he can read them quickly, get the gist of my question, and reply in a few words. He doesn't need to read a tome when a few sentences will do!

Wolf, you are in direct violation of the unwritten Leica forum rule about actually helping someone instead of just making snarky comments and pithy one-liners... shape up, will you? :-)

Gus, isn't there an interlock that prevents frame advance until after firing? I think that's what Victor meant - an internal lever.

There's one in every crowd...
Let's start with the easy stuff. Victor, first off - is the camera loaded? Second, could it be a double-stoke M3, where you need to wind-on twice? (What's the serial number?)
-
Asher, very interesting!
-
Very nice tonality, Juan! Did you do your own scans?
I really need to learn Spanish. I saw the sign in the first pic and immediately thought of "Lady Candies".

Rough crowd!

Asher - and it's not a Minolta?

Ronald, there was a poster here that was working on having replacement C-V finder feet made from metal. I still think it would be a valid product!
-
m, look at the right side with the back open...

I use my 40 Cron on my M3 all the time - I just use the entire field of view and don't worry about it. I haven't decapitated anybody/anything yet, so it must be close enough.
