1. There are alot of ways around it good sir,

FOR example since the theme of the rig is to use a camera attached to a macro bellows.. all you need to do is get a tripod head that can attach to a cheapo macro bellows, can get them for 50$ or less at B&H and then tip the head to vertical and simply arrange the setup so that the bellows is aimed at the floor.

2. Whatever the reason the editor blurs the image of the faces and bodies, it takes away from the power of the image. Can you imagine this photograph if that was done? This photo helped create opinions in America that the US should get out of VietNam.

Link: The story behind the heartbreaking photo of Vietnamese girl burned by napalm, 40 years later

When that particular photograph comes up, one normally doesnt question the change in "impact" if the childs FACE is blurred out.

The question of a reasonable mind is, why wasnt a different area blurred out of that photograph?

3. A little further research shows that there is quite a bit of concern for women and children and predators due to the Ukraine situation, especially human trafficking of young girls often unaccompanied and on the run. One possible reason responsible editors have decided to hide their faces. Safety.

UNICEF REPORT

You do realize that there was a twitter leak on the unicef account on how they wanted to lower the international age of consent for sexual contact to about 8 years old, right when there was nice big influx of children fleeing Ukraine?

4. As to film being the sign of "fine art"

ALL fine art programs teach the masters of fine art as painters or photographers who all used film cameras to create.

There are no current masters of fine art, sure there are guys in japan who made a name for themselves with film in the 1990s and have since transitioned into digital, but none are masters per se.

5. The OP question has been answered by people here who can express it better than me. Remember, though, that film has been around much longer than digital and the basis of the answers have had a considerably longer time to engrain themselves. I think, however, that the buyers of film-based fine art, for whatever reason, will soon/eventually die out and the current crop of buyers, raised in the digital age, won't be consuming much more than what passes for fine art at WalMart.

You really cant make the claim that EVERYONE buying prints made from film negatives are buying the prints SOLELY on the basis of "ooo, it was taken on film i want it.."

MOST if not all the buyers of "fine art prints" in general, are merely buying pieces based upon the following..

general theme of a piece

If someone likes cats, a medium format photo of a cat on a sunny window ledge will be purchased. FAR too many buyers/collectors will simply buy based on what they already have, so if suzy has a house with a nautical decor,, all she gonna buy is nautical photos.

"apparent value of the artist",

ie a "banksy' scribble will always have a higher purchase, and resale value then anything Mann took with his film camera. ONLY because the media has given "banksy' a massive "retro, bad boy image" for idiots with money to buy into...

on resale value, the more an artists works are purchased, the value of each one goes up. And the "smart" buyers know that if they have multiples of a single persons artistic output, their collection can command a higher price tag.

6. I didnt want to participate in the other current thread on software alternatives.

The only editing software i have experience with is Corel Paintshop back in the early 200's and in the last year i have tried IrfanView with minimal luck, and i have tried using the Nikon made editing software, not the latest version though.

I taught myself the corel program for fun, havent used it since perhaps 2004. irfanView was junk, wouldnt let me dow what it was supposed to do, hijack all photo file son my system it was installed onto. It did let me crop and cut photos.

The Nikon programs i have used are not good, the second to newest refuses to show me NEF files as native lossless 14 bit, it shows me the 14bit lossless exif data, but the images are all dropped to high end jpegs when i open them. And the program wont let me cut a piece out of a photo with crop.. it makes the part i wanted to save to a new image file simply dissapear, and a big hole stay in the image i tried cropping.

Which software can i actually trust when it comes to tuturials and program information in the product description?

7. Like NHSN I have tried to move towards user Nikons rather than a collection and have sold F,F2,F3, F5 ,FT3, FE, FM2 and have settled on a trio that get regular use with only 6 lenses, that is Nikkormat FT2, F90x, and my F6. On the digital side the 800e and the D4 have departed leaving one mirrorless and again two lenses. Lenses are often switched between the four cameras. Wish I had done this years ago, the lack of choice is a relief.

Its not a lack of choice that is the issue, its a lack of consistency.

When you are only using multiples of one make of camera, everything flows no matter what the camera you are using, controls, etc. When i grab my range finder its like WTF.... for about an hour and then im done shooting with it for perhaps another 4 or 5 months

8. rain jacket the best bet, however i believe the nikon website claims that their "weather proofing" means you can take it in the shower with you and rinse dirt off of it with the shower head, just NOT leave it in a puddle. And the weather sealing only works if you leave EVERYTHING closed, dont open up the battery cover or the memory cards,,, etc.
9. macro diopter rings arent my thing... i have a film camera and have used them, and well a 1mm difference can take an object that when i hit the shutter is about 80% of the frame, and take it down to 10-20% of a frame. And when you are trying to get a "posed" photo of a dead moth and fly, well you dont have alot of time to do a retake with film.
10. the photo is from 2013. I seem to remember that the fly was dead. f32, 30 seconds (see the EXIF)

doesnt look like the background would say f/32 the tiny circles make it in MY opinion based on MY experiences,, more of a f/22

STill it could be digital grain.. but still its better then some of what i have seen online.

11. 1981 Micro-Nikkor AIs 105 on D2X

these two photos you have posted are the range i am hoping to achieve with the lens i am on the hunt for. I had to work today so i didnt get one ordered, but i have narrowed my selection down considerably

nikons own:

afs-dx 40mm

AFS vr 105mm

afs-dx 85

venus optics laowa 100mm f/2.8 2x

Tokina atx-1 100mm

the only ones im NOT finding unpleasent truths about are the nikon family, but they have been discontinuing macro lenses left and right in the left 6 months, and most of what B&H lists as backordered is now "archived product" on the nikon usa page.

12. Each to their own, but is metering really that important? Trial and error + histogram chimping are what I am usually doing with manual flashes.

i need to use the lens and camera OUTSIDE in something called SUNLIGHT... i need to wear polarized sunglasses outside,, i can use an optical view finder just fine. but NOT use the screen.

and chimping the histogram is not very useful. If you get bored open up your favorite photo software and take a close look at a lossless RAW file and a standard jpeg or even lossless jpeg of same image. i normally find that the histogram shifts right about 20% between the two formats.

13. Venus Optics Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens for Nikon F

Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro Lens for Nikon F

the flat field is interesting as the only other macro that talks about that is the 8-900$ one from Nikon

Nikon Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8 Lens

Originally thought this would be good but i have no clue on the extension ring that is needed to make it 1:1 macro instead of the half size it is from the factory. The close focus correction was what got my attention honestly.

Venus Optics Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro Lens for Nikon F

The magnification is the only thing going for it, as i would like to get massive closeups on say a model plane or diorama

Nikon AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Lens

close correction system

IRIX 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 Lens for Nikon F

The tripod collar is a main pull as nothing else has a tripod collar that i can find.

Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro Lens for Nikon F

Venus Optics Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro Lens for Nikon F-Mount

Im confused on what they are actually offering in terms of actual magnification as it seems to be dependent upon something i cant quite comprehend. In description almost sound like using a macro diopter ring on a prime.

Mitakon Zhongyi Creator 85mm f/2.8 1-5x Super Macro Lens for Nikon F

This has my interest, serious interest but i am not understanding how it actually works but i do under the type of lens correction is has for color fringeing.

I have ignored the other smaller under 80mm macro offerings at B&H, but i need something that is in stock and can be ordered by saturday. I wanted to get going with macro last year but supply chain issues killed that until it was to late to do most of what i wanted to do with it.

I do want the best optical quality and image quality. I have no interest in printing beyond standard production 8x10 photo paper on my printer.

My main issue is that the lens needs to be able to interact with the D7500 software and let me use it through the OVF and have the light metering system working.

I dont care about auto focus

I dont care about stabilizing as i plan on using a tripod with it for macro work, and i can do fine with a non stabilized lens with my film camera. And i do understand how to carry a little lens rest bag in my gear if i need to really go for broke on an image.

I honestly dont care if it is full frame or aps-c lens, but i have the hope to get into using it with my d7500 to scan film negatives. And when i need to replace my D7500 i know ill be replacing it with a FULL FRAME camera, no brand selected.

14. @tommyfilmist - Thanks - I will check that out next time we visit with them.

For now, the aux flash and Flashbender 2 seems to work very well for me.

The D7500 has unique features on it.. cant remember what its called but i think its the auto focus assistance light, the little white light on the right side of the lens mount thats used in low light by the auto focus system, that light can light a closet up rather well.

15. Yes, I watch my words carefully today. I think about what I say and how I say it aware that the thought police in society will jump on any "error" in choosing the appropriate word or inflection. Our photography and art have been affected as well. A lot of people are fed up with the constant criticism of our thoughts and words. So now even crying babies are forbidden to be photographed because there are a few perverts in society. And it's not some dystopian government imposing it on us. We're freely doing it to ourselves.

All in the name of wokeness.

Yet in some instances the differing opinions on what should be done is not as important as what each particular person endorses on the topic "is it legal".

There is a 1960s british film set in a nudist colony where there is about 15 minutes total screen time of underage, under 14 year old naked children of both genders. Including a 5 minute synchronized fully nude diving routine by nude children of both genders between the ages of 5 and 10.

Film never censored, freely found and watched on the big tube thingy.

There are people who will try to hang you if you bring that video up, or even point out it exists. Claim its "kiddie porn" but will fight you tooth and nail on how their collection of nude 5 to 15 year old children by sally mann and sturges are completely innocent and wonderful art works

Just got back from a walk. Yes, the ever adjusting EVF takes out some of the sky darkening. The highlight drop off is harder to see but there. Also, greens see to really pop if shooting truly perpendicular to the sun.

my 7500 does the odd grass color too. no matter how i spin the CPL on my lens. Even get it when i use my sigma lens without the cpl. Sad but its something in the software and image sensor.

But the rest of the image looks too "bright"

17. What are the options for going macro with a D7500?

The lowest cost macro they make the manual controlled aperture, manual focus is only availabe from canada, and you have to pay first and wait at least 5 months before it might get shipped.

The current Nikon production macro lens are expensive, even used is only 20% off.

Ive looked at Sigma macro lenses, but they all seem to be APS-C and im hoping for a full frame format compatible.

Tamron is alot more affordable, but lacks the stabalizer systems... I can toss in a macro extension kit to hook the camera up to my tripod. then id be close if not over the price of a SIgma macro lens.

I was considering a macro bellows, but i would have to use the live view function for getting the shutter and aperture correct, and i cant read the view screen much at all with my sun glasses and my eye condition requires sun glasses outside year round.

As i need to keep the penta prism going, i guess im stuck with a used macro from nikon, or a new one from nikon or tamron or sigma. I dont know if a macro diopter kit is useful or not in comparison to say getting one of the 1: to 5:1 macro lenses at b&h..

I just want optical clarity, a quality image that can be printed on 8x10 photo paper on a hp injet

18. Does One Model Place still exist? Our university here has an organization called the Modeling Board. I’ve done their headshots for a few years and have found several good models there. Sandy makes an excellent point about an art department.

Rick H.

Sadly, the "art department" will only interact with paying students in their art programs when it comes to finding someone that wants to get infront of a camera.

Same with the photo groups, sure they will do something now and then, but for the privilege youll have to pay you monthly membership dues before theyll give you any data.
