  1. I have a new to me Canon L1 LTM Rangefinder classic. I should in a few days have a period mate Canon 50 mm/f1.8 LTM lens. And hope next week to run a roll of Fujicolor 400 through it as it's maiden roll. The right amount of loving use (tripod socket on the L1 has some scars around it). I look very forward to using it and enjoying it's maiden roll.  A longtime dream camera of mine. Barnack with Canon improvements and original design ideas inspired from the M3. Plenty of Barnack DNA throughout. Elegance!

  2. I agree with you partially. The Contax bayonet mount was in practice fiddly, as there was inner and outer bayonet mounts. A single bayonet mount like Leica adopted with the M3 of 1954 would have been superior. The Leica in practice was the superior camera in practical use, as it was a better system, easier to grip, easier to operate outside of the fiddly loading from the bottom.

I have added another lens to my collection of 50's:

This time the short nosed Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AIS - the very plasticky export version. But compact, light and no doubt as good as any of Nikon's 50/1.8's. This weekend I will try to find out with the lens mounted on my F3 loaded with a roll of Kodak Gold 200.

    Nikon F3 with a short nosed 50mm 1.8 AIS

The lens was a gift, and I probably wouldn't have sought it out otherwise as I already own the long nosed version.

I call this the "Snub Nose" Nikkor. Very compact, very incognito looking. Elegant photo, Niels!

  4. Operationally, I prefer the VI-L (as I like lever wind best) to the VI-T (which has trigger wind from the bottom). I'd be proud to own either camera, as I like Canon Rangefinders. And have admired them for many years. I have a Canon L-1 on it's way to me (a dream which will soon be fulfilled). Leica screw mount done better than Leica itself did, with useful features Leica didn't offer in the III series. Keep the camera, enjoy shooting pictures, get a good light meter. Be proud of the legacy left to you, to preserve and enjoy!

Just received a Leica M2. It was a workhorse for someone, as you can see by the dents.

I put my Canon ltm 35 m f2.8 on it and Kentmere 400 in it to see if it works.

I call this the ideal Leica for me. It's already pre-banged up. So spastic me has no anxiety using one like this for running miles of film through it. Rock it!

Getting out with a camera is great therapy for body and soul after a medical ordeal. Very nice street shots! Get closer and share more with us soon!

I agree with this highly. Have shot some images on film. Need to get out and shoot some more images. Great for mind, body, and soul. Enjoy the journey. Photography is therapy.

Nice looking Jeep, Rick.  Various Jeep models sell really well here in the USA.  Some of the new ones are quite expensive, especially those with all the options.  That McIntosh audio system alone must really add to the price.

McIntosh really belongs in more luxurious vehicles than a Grand Wagoneer. Mike, have you ever heard Mcintosh at home.? I have and enjoy it daily. It's nice and musical.

A new to me Kiev with some lenses--the Helios 53 mm f/1.8 on the camera along with Jupiter 12 35 mm f/2.8, Jupiter 9 85 mm f/2 and Jupiter 11 135 mm f/4. Not shown:  a Zeiss universal finder for the 3 Jupiter lenses.1562706507_Kievlenses.thumb.jpg.3c3701d908f062b5a789d6b6b1656401.jpg

Where can I find a take up spool for my example easily. I'd like to run a roll of film through it. I love it quirks and all. Thanks!

Love that view. More hiking than what Cerebral Palsy, spinal defects, and my short leg/hip would put up with. Not friendly for wheelchair users. I wish I could get to that view, and shoot some of my own Spastic Images.

  10. I hope I am bringing some new life, and enthusiasm to this forum. This forum has inspired me, to return to film photography. And has given me inspiration to do what I enjoy, to find my niche (and my adaptive nature around physical and other challenges). You have revitalized my creativity, and have encouraged me on so very much.

Nikon really got their AF act together?

Is that why today nearly every body-lens combo needs a different AF fine tune? A 'fine' tune that practically end stops the adjustment range in many cases.

The earliest generation Nikon AF cameras had very slow, very lacking in response AF compared to say, the Minolta Maxxum AF SLR by comparison. The Nikon AF 2020 is best used as a manual focus SLR, to name an example.

I have two dead Lunasix and one dead Sekonic Cds meters that testify otherwise.

Have you ever tried to re-solder the fine broken wire of a moving-coil meter Q. G?

    Didn't think so, straw man.

Or the damage the Gossen Luna-Pro gets when a person with Cerebral Palsy has muscles with a mind of their own, which cause him to fall on top of his Luna-Pro. Mine had a moving coil meter which didn't work afterwards. My fault, I admit it. But I got a nice Luna-Pro F as an upgrade out of it. Which I enjoy using, now that I understand how to use it.
