Thank you for the reply! I am getting great advice and feeling a little stupid as I am not sure of the different models (EOS 3, EOS 7, EOS 7N..). Why are is the EOS-3 more expensive than the EOS-7? Did Canon not used increasing numbers on better / later models. Read my post to JDMvW and you can see some background. Really appreciate all of you helping! Mike

Thank you for your reply! The camera has meaning in that my wife and mother got it for my birthday long ago. I haven't used it in a long time and it survived a house fire we'd had some years back. I was checking my cameras for batteries and came across this. Really made me sad to see. I did come across a YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSGqrW4kz70. I have been thinking of trying this. You ever heard of anyone doing this? I am intrigued by the EOS-3 information. I am wondering if I should actually get one of these for my collection. Seems nobody cares much for film cameras any longer and I do have digital ones (a Canon EOS 10D and 60D). The 10D is kind on on its last legs. I bought the 60D on eBay some time ago. I noticed you'd mentioned the EOS 3 was the last of the professional film cameras. I have an F-1, but is this a successor?

I have a Canon EOS Elan and I noticed the curtain inside the camera looks strange. Is this normal? I don’t want to put a battery in and play with it until I know. If this is needing repair how bad is it? Thanks! Mike
