  1. Hehehehehehe Ludmilla. I think it will be our next generation who will consider collecting this masterpieces. The impact of the smartphones on the lives of the people in the world is actually way way more than the impact of vintage cameras. :)
  2. Hello charles, Thank you very much for the advice. Yes I too love the read books something that my kids seems to have lost along the way. May I ask if the books are available in Amazon? or if they are not, where can i order them online? I prefer hardcopy books rather than softcopies. :)
  3. I agree, I have been trying to wrack my brains trying to look for a theme for my collection. I am very excited to start looking for vintage cameras. I also planted my feet in in solid ground knowing that I don't have an unlimited budget for my collection. So I have to scratch out themes like " Lieca's through the ages" knowing that It will cost me a fortune to collect them and not much more additional joy than collecting other Japanese cameras. But I am very excited to start looking for my cameras for my collection. :) Would a Theme like " Cameras that made an impact on Society during the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's " make any sense? :) Anyway now that I am starting to look for my first camera to purchase, I saw this very fine condition Nikomat EL being sold for US$60 without lense. I haven't check on the actual condition but the seller said everything works. :)
  4. Hello JDMvW, I find winding the film lever, clicking the shutter and fiddling the buttons and dials a big enjoyment for me. I also am very much in love with the looks of the camera of the 60', 70's and the 80's aside from that I don't really know what I want to do. :)
  5. Charles, thank you for a wonderful advice, Yes I have never attempted doing a camera collection, over the years I have come across many people who wanted to sell retro cameras in good condition and I always said no, thinking what will I do with? But people's attitude change, I use to look at practicality of things that I buy, But now that I am getting older and nearing retirement age, my mindset is changing, I am starting to appreciate the beauty of things retro specially cameras. And yes I totally agree with you, I think it will be a lot of fun, researching, adding cameras to my list, crossing out cameras that i added and replacing it with other camera's, I think it will be fun trying to make up my mind whats should be in my list. :)
  6. A complete collection of Leica classic cameras maybe quite expensive, I dont kno if I can afford it, but I will try adding a few leicas in my list. :)
  7. Thank you Sandy. I think it would be fun, looking for the camera's you mentioned. Isn't it very hard to find a working F camera? I live in Seattle but goes home to my home country many times a year. I am giving myself 5 years to collect the 50 in my list and hopefully I can complete my list by March of 2021. :)
  8. Thank you Steve, I just learned something new from you. I have never heard of a zenit until today and I googled it. Thank you Any idea what SLR has the first pentaprism? How about the camera with the first Autoexposure? :)
  9. Hello Fellow PhotoNetters, Good Evening, I was a camera deprived teen when I was in High School. I envied my classmates who were lugging the SLR's and other expensive equipment. When I was in freshman, I joined our High School Photography Club even when I didn't have a "real" camera. All I had was a kodak instamatic that uses 126 film and fire magic cubes for flash. I was so desperate to have an SLR that I pretended that I had an SLR. I ask my Aunt who was a factory sewer to make me a leather case for my instamatic camera that has a front bulge so that it would look like and SLR with a lens. :) My first SLR was a Canon T70, I really wanted an A1 but I can't afford so I settled for the T70. :) Even until now I love the feel of the retro camera and the sound of its shutter. Now that I am reaching retirement age, My camera of choice is a smartphone. hahahahaha But I was inspired by your posts here and decided that I would try to collect vintage cameras as a hobby. :) Aside from fiddling with the aperture ring, winding the film crank and firing the shutter, I probably have no use for it and it will stay in a display cabinet almost all of the time. :) Can you please recommend to me 50 of the desirable film cameras to collect ? Top of the list would be a Canon A1 as this camera was my first object of desire way back in the early 1980's. Could you recommend other cameras to the list? And can you tell me why it should be part of the 50 I should be aiming to collect? Here are the list of cameras I will start searching for, preferably in top notch condition 01. Canon A1 02. Nikon FM2 03. Nikon FA 04. Canon AE1 05. Pentax K 06. Bronica Medium Format (I already have one) 07. Canon T70 (my first DSLR which I can't remember where I placed it and I want another one) 08. 09 10. 11. . . . . .
  10. I used to drool over an A1. I wanted it so much but I cant afford it, I settled with a T70. :)

  16. Hello Ludmilla, This how you connect a CPFlash 550W with your Ricoh GR III. 1. On top of your Ricoh GR III is a hot shoe. 2. The CPFlash comes with a hot shoe trigger. 3. If you flip the Hot Shoe Trigger . This is what you see at the bottom. 4. The red rectangle contains the dip switches. dip switch number 1 is for master/slave selection and for your hot shoe trigger should be set to on. This dip switches actually will allow up to 8 photographers select 8 master channels and 8 slave channels to work on a confined space without having to false trigger other photographers flash. For your case just set your master channel and your hot shoe trigger to zero just like what is shown in the picture above. 5. Attached the hot shoe trigger to your GR III camera. Turn on the CPFlash and bingo you now have a working Off Camera Flash . You need to open the CPFlash 550W App in your smartphone if you want to adjust power levels, or you just move the flash farther or nearer the subject if you have too much power or too little power. :)
  17. Hello Ludmilla, Here is a sample image of what you can do with a single Off camera Flash. You cannot achieve an image with a lighting effect like this without an Off Camera Flash. I took this shot last year with my Canon EOS600D DSLR and a Yongnou Speedlight. I placed the speedlight inside a hollow Kerosene lantern container. :) Canon EOS600D , f/6.3, 1/125 S , ISO800 , 32mm (35mm equivalent)
  18. Hello Ludmilla, The Ricoh GR III is a very cute and powerful camera. I almost bought one because I really wanted a small camera with off camera capabilities flash capabilities. Using an Off Camera Flash will definitely expand your photographic horizon. There are some shots that are just not possible without an off camera flash. The CPFlash 550W kit comes with a hot shoe trigger and is universally compatible because it only has a center pin. You would still need your smartphone to control the power out put of the flash though. But sometimes when I am too lazy, I just use the cpflash and my Canon EOS600D APS-C DSLR and just move the flash nearer or farther to control the brightness. Yes I would recommend the CPFLash, for versatility. You can use it with your GR III, you can use it for your smartphone and your kids could even use it for video effects when they Vlog. :)
  19. hello James, I just use the built in Camera App of the Huawei P30 Pro. I like to use the native built in camera App because it takes advantage of all the computational photography features of the native camera app. But I do suggest that you use a camera app that has manual controls of the shutter speed, and ISO and focusing distance or with a focus lock feature. It will make controlling the image much much easier. If your native built-in camera app has no manual controls like the iphones, you can always download another camera app like the LightRoom, which can be downloaded for free for both Androids and Ios phones. The nice thing about the Innovatronix CPFlash 550W is that it is compatible with any Camera App for Android or IOS phones. and they claim that it works for all brands and models of smartphones . Its basically a floating app, working on top of whatever camera App you have. :)
  20. Welcome aboard Marc, Can I see some of your photos please? :)
