Per the OM-4 Instruction Manual, the OM-4 view finder is .84x magnification and shows 97% of the actual field of view, vs the OM-1 view finder, which is .92x magnification and shows the same 97% of the actual field of view.

Olympus OM-2n is my choice as a keeper. Compact, well built, affordable glass, great OTF metering. Recently CLA’d, ready to shoot plenty ‘mo film.

Glad to hear you decided to give Olympus another try. I hope it allows you to enjoy shooting film again as much as I am. Although I’ve had the OM-1 for 48 years, the OM-2n is a fairly recent purchase for me, as I bought it locally here, including the 50mm f1:1.2 lens about a year ago from its original owner. He maintained the camera I in excellent condition but I wanted it overhauled due to its age, and while there are still experienced OM techs able to properly service them. Like you, I had been researching it, and liked the upgraded OM-2n features and the ability to choose an aperture priority mode. It’s great to have both the 1, and 2n models, allowing me to keep one loaded with color, and the other wIth B&W film.

I had the CLA done by John Titterington, Leawood, Kansas. I’d definitely recommend him; he has a lot of experience with OM’s, and had a quick turnaround time. His price is very fair as well.

I’m strictly a hobbyist, so keep that in mind when viewing my recent photos, all taken with my OM cameras here in the Pacific Northwest:

Just got my OM-2n back from being Cleaned/Lubed/Adjusted, and am ready for it’s next adventures. Nothing was really wrong with it, but I just felt it was time for a “tune-up”. While it was away, I ordered new leather body covers, and installed them upon return of the camera. It’s amazing how easy the old leather came off, all adhesive was still attached to the leather. None stuck to the body, requiring me to clean off any gunk. All I did was wipe down the surface with alcohol, and attach the new covers. Since I was never crazy about the original camera-back with the slot for the film box-end, I replaced the back with one from an OM-1md. Since the re-covering went so well, I also recovered my OM-1 (non-MD) that I purchased new back in 1972, so now they’re ready for my revived interest in film photography.
