  1. But i have gotten crap from model who have done regional work, local work, just pose for random people. So far 1 have tentative plans with one for this week to do some shooting with me. But i cant even get her to SEND ME A TEXT message so i dont know if shes serious or not.
  2. The main limitation to continuous video shooting time would appear to be battery capacity and temperature - not to mention viewer boredom threshold!

Shooting HD or 4K video warms up the sensor, battery and camera innards considerably, and extended continuous shooting could cause damage to the camera if firmware or hardware thermal failsafes are defeated.

My Sony A7Riv manual warns about this, despite the camera not having any firmware limitation to video shooting length. There are thermal trips that cut in and continuous video recording time is limited by ambient temperature.

downloading 1600 photos from the memory card through the nikon cable leaves the area behind the screen very hot. id hate to think what it would be like from shooting video all day

  3. +1 to getting a 55mm manual focus Micro-Nikkor - either f/3.5 or f/2.8. It's what I used with the film-copier attachment I showed above. The one that isn't the Illumitran.

To be honest, there is very little difference in the speed of use, or quality of results between using that front-of-lens film holder, and the dedicated Illumitran. Provided that flash is used as the light source.

The main difference is in convenience, and a slight improvement in film flatness with the Illumitran. The Illumitran is ready and waiting to go, whereas the front-of-macro-lens gizmo needs careful focussing and trial 'pops' to get the exposure right, every time it's fitted to the camera.

The Illumitran also has a filter drawer that takes a blue filter to counteract the orange mask of colour negative film. Whereas I had to alter the camera White Balance with the lens attachment thingy.

(Why I believe a blue filter is necessary has been discussed at length in another thread.)

FWIW. If you have a digital camera with sufficient resolution to make it suitable for film digitising - then why the heck shoot inferior 35mm film in the first place?

ive decided to try to find a tube slide/film copier. So much easier on the setup. thought about the bellows but id still need to get the lens and i just dont want too do that.

  4. The ES-2 will work with a DX 40/2.8 Micronikkor lens with the supplied adapters. A DX camera only needs 2:3 magnification to cover the entire 35 mm frame, which means a longer working distance than the same lens on an FX camera. You can probably use a different macro lens than the 40/2.8, if you have enough extension from the lens. That might require threaded 52 mm or 62 mm extension tubes.

but thats half the problem, figuring out a list of combinations........ the DX 40/2.8 would let me get decent short range camera work,, make indoors awhole lot fun compared to the lens i have now.

Do you show them your work? Any chance that's causing a problem? Just asking...

only one wanted to see my work at all. And she liked my photocrowd stuff, its all i have animals and landscape. Portfolio building sucks if your not email linked to a major studio or photographic personality..

Far to many conversations go like this:

me- hello, could you let me know what your hourly rates are and what types of content you shoot?

them- i charge x per hour for fully clothed/swimsuit/underwear/ panties with pasties, i charge y per hour for fully nude and z for insertion/bondage/fetish work.

me- that sounds reasonable and consistent for that subject matter. Do you charge travel expenses, according to your location in your profile were about 120 miles away from each other.

    2 days, 3 days, 1, 2,3,4, weeks later......

me- Hello C im trying to get back in touch with you to discuss a photo shoot with you again. We already covered costs and content, but i havent heard back from you yet....

the one upseller, still keeps trying to get me to do a zombie dismembered corpse shoot, after i keep saying NO.. talk about a lecture on " a model has a right to determine what is shot, but not the photographer who is paying for the privilege"

I have ONE, yes ONE who has agreed to a shoot, and is currently discussing outfits based upon the exercise theme i was made to agree upon. Yoga pants are fun, i will admit.

What do you mean "low smelling"?

Caffenol is far from what I'd call pleasant smelling, and that's coming from someone who usually drinks 3-6 cups of coffee a day. The smell is vaguely reminiscent of badly burnt coffee, but a whole lot worse than that.

Classical developers can smell some as they age, but they tend to not be particularly strong at least to my nose.

Stop bath you can safely skip with modern emulsions. I usually use it, but a while back I switched to citric acid because I don't get along so well with glacial acetic acid or other high concentrations of it and won't handle it at home(where ventilation is a lot worse than in a lab-I can tolerate it there partially because I have to and partially because I have fume hoods). Citric acid usually has no smell, or might have a faint citrus smell.

The real stinker of the bunch is fixer, and if you value your negatives at all there's no real way to get along with it. All common fixers use some sort of thiosulfate salt. I don't mess with plain "hypo" fixer(sodium thiosulfate) anymore as it's too slow once you've gotten use to rapid fixers(ammonium thiosulfate), doesn't wash out as easily, and is really inefficient at fixing T-grain films. I've made my own rapid fixer from sodium thiosulfate and ammonium chloride, and also bought a lot of the Ilford concentrate. Fresh fixer isn't too bad, but as it gets used(even once) it tends to build up sulfur compounds that make it stinky. None of your home brew developers get you away from having to use fixer, nothing I know of works anywhere near as well as thiosulfates, and even plain hypo still smells with use.

    I

I DRINK coffee, perhaps 5-8 pots a day.

What i made using the cheapest walmart instant coffee, it only smelled once it was all mixed, and it only smelled like bok choi. Ive left boiled bok choi in a pot for 3 days and it had a stronger smell then this. Actually ive eated brussel sprouts and made a stronger smelling liqoud myself..

  7. im just trying to figure out the CHEAPEST and EASIEST way.... the lenses Nikon mentions in the product descriptions are the nice 400$+ stuff, while you guys use alot of other lens options.

SO what would be the cheapest set up guys, i just ordered a 150-600 sigma last night and dont wanna spend a dime

  8. Bert P. Krages - Attorney at Law

This is the pdf file and book that is used in 90% of all articles about this question.

To make it the simplest, and the easiest.

public places are anywhere the general public may go. that includes stores, restaurants, sporting arenas, and so forth. That means if you are at walmart, costco, subway, in the actual subway, the street, the city park, the public beach, then you may take photos.

    there are some general rules.

    1. do not be an asshole about it. If you are at the beach and are taking photos in the general direction of say a party, and someone from the party comes over and asks you to stop taking photos. You are generally supposed to stop taking the photos of them.

    2. If you go to the skate park and are taking pictures of people on skate boards and the like doing tricks, you CANNOT take photos of them and then try to submit the photos to the companies that made the gear that was used WITHOUT permission of the people in the photo. That is called "using a persons likeness for monetary gain without permission"

    3. If you are in a public place and they have signs that say "no photos" you cant take photos. If the restaurant manager comes over and says "stop" your supposed to stop taking photos.

    4. Bathrooms of any kind are off limits. Even the people who take a bathroom selfie of themselves and their "amazing or monumental bathroom moment" are not supposed to be doing that. The same applies for changing rooms and doctors offices.

    5. any area where a person may feel the reasonable thought of "its a private area" means you cant shoot. What that means is....

a if you are looking into someones window and take a photo,, you have a problem

    b. if you walk around the department store and stick you camera up young ladies skirts hit firing the shutter,,,, you have a problem

    c. If you stick the camera above, under, or through a hole in a wall or fence or door in order to take a photo, you have a problem.

    d. if you have to turn your lens up to 600mm and stand on the roof of a 20 story building to look into windows, balconies, porches, or over fences you are in violation and have a problem.

the general concept is that, if you need to take any special action to see it, you have a problem

  9. then that m

I think you will find ALL "Still" cameras, i.e. DSLR cameras, not classified as Video Cameras are limited to taking videos of under 30 minutes. Most have a maximum of 29 minutes 59 seconds (or less). This is not a technical limitation but a legal limitation. If the camera can take videos of 30 minutes or more, it is classified as a Video Camera and higher import taxes apply. Manufacturers do not like to pay higher taxes, so the camera is limited to 29 min - 59 sec.

Many Nikon DSLR cameras also have a maximum file length of 4 GB per movie file. A 256 GB card is overkill.

See Page 188 of the American English version of the Users Manual

eans i should be able to do several movies on the same card

  10. Attached to the AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D lens with the BR-5 Ring or the Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 lens, this adapter enables duplication of 35mm film.

Attaching the ES-1 to the Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8 lens and extension tubes, you can copy 35mm slides.

    from the es-1 nikon webpage.

The ES-2 nikon webpage says its only usable with 2 nikon cameras, and mentions the same lenses as teh es-1 page.

Looking through this site, i have been seeing people using other nikon macro lenses, 40 , 50, and 55 mm focal length and extension tubes. I would just like to see the cheapest possible way to connect one to my D7500.

Is it possible to find crappy but usable macro lenses from other companies that would work with the system, or does it depend upon some mythical nikon nikor technology?

  11. on the good side there are SOME places like midwest camera that say theyll give lens repair a try out, if you want to spend money.

And at the same time, they use the new lubricant. stuff that was put into my diacord g, that stuff is supposed to be good for 50 years in the camera.

  12. the nikon manual says something about only being able to take 39 minutes of 4k video on a single video card. SO i guess my 256gb card will become my video card. And i do need to get decent small ones.

Just that alot of companies are mixing the capabilities up between the generations. What i mean is i was at the store and i found alot of sdxc 1 uhs speed class 1 cards with c 10 speed ratings.. do annoying confusing. I think ill just stick to the higher end crds, at least that way i can use them and if and when i upgrade to a higher end camera i wont have to worry about a replacement set of memory cards.

so far i shoot lossless raw and lossless fine jpeg medium size.

  13. i believe the United States Supreme Court ruled that anyone in a public place can have their image taken at any time by any one, and that it can be used without permission UNLESS they ask each individual person.

IE,,, if you go to a public store, and there is a news crew doing something for the evening news and they get you in the background,, you have no option out..

However, if your walking on the street and take photos of someone who doesnt like that, and they say stop it.. you have to stop it.

  14. i have been using modelmayhem, and a few others to find models in my state. The issue i have been running into head first is that even the ones that claim to have been in the industry 5 or more years and have published photos of them in magazines, even some who have actually done regional tv commercials have no motivation to discuss.

Its like the minute they explain how much they charge per hour for each genre of photography, they just stop talking. Period. The only one that actually has kept talking has only been talking to upsell things to me, and to try to force me to do a "dismembered body shoot" because shed charge me for the outfit shed wear "because it would ruin the clothes".

if a model has a photo gallery of her non nude work, and she had samples of her in bikinis, and even wearing an 8 inch wide strip of sheet wrapped around. you would assume that you could do some posing of her on the beach in a bikini. but NOOOOOO the minute we discuss that, it suddenly becomes "bikini equals the same payrate as fully nude pose".

  15. finally getting into the human modelling experience. So far its like dealing with idiots on crack. No motivation whatsoever on their part.

Seriously, if someone is making money being being approachable to people with a camera, then why cant they actually be up front about what they will or will not do? Why cant they be honest about what they want out of it? Why oh why cant they actually respond in a timely manner?

My most favorite moment at the moment is one who keeps changing the definition of the work she does. she has a lot of images of her wearing nothing but a 6 inch wide sheet in her non nude gallery section. yet when discussing things, that becomes part of her "nude or semi nude" modelling charge rate which is 3 times her non nude.

    Is that normal model behavior?
