    Thanks for the comments, I was really struck by this as soon as I walked in the hotel and knew I had to shoot it. I didnt have my Canon 5D Mark II so I shot this with my LGV40. cell cameras are amazing these days!!

    Thank you so much. Yes, this is a well worn boulder in the middle of the woods. I was actually shooting something else, had my tripod set up and just took a breather and was looking around. I instantly saw this rock and thought why is it looking at me. lol. so of course i had to shoot it.

    absolutely stellar photo!! it really captures the feel and mood of the landscape. My only critique is more of a personal choice on cropping. I would have cropped the sides more, maybe even experimented with a vertical crop and emphasized the 2 larger trees in the center of the frame. I find the interplay of their shapes mesmerizing. But that's really more of an artists vision decision so by no means is there anything lacking in this photo.

    love this photo. the only thing I see that I could critique would be the very hot spot on the sky above the train. I would like to see that a little darker with just a bit of detail like the sky directly above the 5553 shows. Excellent capture!!
