  1. This photo really creates a mood. When I first saw it, it said, "As his darkness spread across the land, the evil one sent his hounds ahead to scout for new lands to plunder, new victims to enslave." Then I read your discription of this shot and decided that I need some therapy.

The point is, a photo should get some reaction from the viewer. In this regard it is very successful.

Great shot, it has a "done with charcoals" quality to it. Has any computer manipulation been done to it or is this the original shot? What luck to get a bird (owl?) across the face of the moon in the photo.
  2. Lived for eight years in New Mexico so I love desert images. I'm just a beginner so maybe my ratings don't mean as much as someone else's but here's what I learned from this image.

Don't ignore the foreground. I probably would have stepped in front of the dead tree to get an uninterrupted view of the horizon.

The tree in the foreground is what makes this image for me.

Thanks for sharing and for giving a newbie something to think about.

  3. It appears that there is another waterfall and pool above the one in the center of the frame. It'd be kinda cool to see a shot with a double pool, double fall.

    BTW love the shot.
