  2. Thanks and I'm glad your leaving it up. I could find no other posts explaining possible stuck blades not involving oil on the blades. I'm sure it will help someone.
  3. Holy cat crap! Just went to dab the blades with lighter fluid, heard a pop and they immediately began working perfectly. 85 bucks for a perfectly working, but ugly, lens!
  4. Hi I just got in the lens for parts. The lever that controlled the aperture was completely stuck (Its the lever the camera uses to stop down when taking a photo). I removed the mount and moved the aperture lever back and forward till it moved. It feels dry but I'm not sure. Anyways, now The blades open perfectly when I set it wide open. They close down when I stop it down and manually move the lever, but they do not spring open as they should. There is no oil on the blades. They look new. Everything on the lens looks great. Any idea on what is causing this? Thanks for your help folks.
  5. The larger dynamic range would be nice. I use graduated ND filters though if I'm shooting the sky. They definitely help with that.
  6. And also have to mention you should definitely use your ai and ais lenses no mater what body you get. On a full frame the viewfinder is much bigger and brighter. Focusing is much easier. My favorites are the Nikon 50 f2 and Tamron 90 F2.5 macro on my full frame dslr.
  7. I didn't read the rest of the post. There was five pages. I've used a lot of different cameras and lenses. I just got a D700 for 440 dollars US on ebay with under 50,000 clicks. I will probably never wear the shutter out. It is ratted at 150,000. If you are patient you can find one cheap. The pictures look amazing. I doubt you could see a difference between a D800 and this camera unless you blow up the pictures to sizes you probably wont ever do or pixel peep. When using VR and shooting at 3200 ISO I can shoot a 300mm with one small lamp inside my living room. and come out with very sharp images. At 6400 it still looks good enough for good size prints. It feels amazing to hold. It's very solid and the button layout is easy to figure out. I rarely have to go into the menu to make adjustments which is a huge deal. I believe it gets around 1,000 photos per battery charge. I would buy this again and invest in a nice lens with VR rather than a new FX body.
